On the other hand, church and state have to do with religion and politics, at least in the United States. The Kingdom of God has nothing whatsoever to do with religion and everything to do with the Lord God's government. You are a born again citizen, born by His Spirit. The Lord Jesus made it quite clear concerning the difference between the flesh and the Spirit. There was a man named Nicodemus, a Jewish religious leader who was a Pharisee. After dark one evening, he came to speak with Jesus. “Rabbi,” he said, “we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are evidence that God is with you.”
Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”
“What do you mean?” exclaimed Nicodemus. “How can an old man go back into his mother’s womb and be born again?”
Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit.”
Please note that the King said nothing about His religion. He stated nothing about His political affiliation or what synagogue He was a member of. King Jesus answered his question in detail, so there would be no doubt in Nicodemus' mind on what to do. The King represented His government, not a certain religion or political group. He was the perfect ambassador of the Kingdom. By the way, it is our responsibility to stay in the Lord God's Constitution and allow the Governor--Holy Spirit--to teach us what we need to know. The King stated: “These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
As I write this article early in the morning, about 4:30 a.m., the Holy Spirit directs me, giving me information to share with you. Some have asked how you hear the Holy Spirit. Well, how do you hear a radio broadcast? You have a radio and tune it in to the right frequency. The airwaves are always there, but you've got to get tuned in to receive it! The Holy Spirit often leads through scriptures, so it is important to have as much of God's Word in your heart and mind. Now quiet the noise around you and the chaos of the day and focus on Him and listen. In John 10:27, Jesus said "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow Me." The more you listen and respond to His leading, the more you will recognize the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Now, back to King Jesus speaking to Nicodemus. Note that Jesus seems to be surprised that Nicodemus was unaware of the information Jesus was saying to him.
Nicodemus answered and said to Him, “How can these things be?”
Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things? Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness. If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? NKJV Keep in mind that he was a ruler and leader of the people; an educated man who taught the people. But he wasn't teaching what he should have been teaching. It is the same today. Preachers are preaching and teaching their own message and having conferences and events that have nothing whatsoever to do with the King or His message to a lost and condemned world. Remember His command: Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today."
A key reason so many are sick and weak among the people of God is that we fail to read, listen and obey His commands. We concern ourselves with things that aren't a priority. Politics and religion in this world may not go hand in hand, but Kingdom principles and standards do, and are are a constant lifestyle among those in the Kingdom of God. God's principles and standards should be in all facets of our lives. By the way, those aren't religious principles or Christian principles, but the King's principles and standards. If you are filled with His Spirit then you have no problem at all living by His standards. We are to be examples and shine above the rest. “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless."
“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father." He made it very clear that we are to stand out; not in a religious or political way, but a way that exemplifies a citizen of the Kingdom in good standing with the King.
As always, remember, your faith in His Word is your greatest asset in the Kingdom.
