Understanding the Lord God’s original intent assists you to understand His Constitution—His written Word. Too many people misunderstand His written Word and its message because they misunderstand His original intent. The original intent is very important to understanding the purpose of anything. In essence, the Constitution is about the rise, fall and rise again of the Lord God’s Kingdom. It gives you a story told through His representatives, of a Kingdom that was established, and lost, and then restored.
It begins in the first two chapters of Genesis, under the rulership of Adam, as God created mankind in His own image and gave him dominion. Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:26-28
Chapter three tells us how Adam and Eve lost their earthly kingdom. Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?”
So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?”
Then the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.”
And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”
The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
So the Lord God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all cattle,
and more than every beast of the field. On your belly you shall go, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.”
To the woman He said: “I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you.”
Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’: “Cursed is the ground for your sake; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, and you shall eat the herb of the field. In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for dust you are, and to dust you shall return.” Genesis 3:11-19 The rest of the Lord’s Constitution records the working of His plan to regain that Kingdom and restore it to its original state.
God created and established the supernatural realm, which we know as Heaven, as the invisible center of His power. Remember that Heaven is His first and original Kingdom. Heaven is a country just as real as any nation on earth, even though it is invisible. While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18
In God’s Constitution, the book of Hebrews describes Abraham and other individuals of faith as “aliens and strangers on earth looking for a country of their own”. These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. Hebrews 11:13-14 This doesn’t refer to their earthly countries of origin, to which they could have returned, if they had desired to, but to another country in another place. And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them. Hebrews 11:15-16 But there was an ordained time for God’s Kingdom to be reintroduced in the earth and that time had not come yet in their time. For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. Isaiah 9:6-7a Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world. But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. Galatians 4:3-5
Keep in mind that Heaven is a country; it is a Kingdom ruled by a King—our Lord God. King is the only appropriate title to describe His place in Heaven, because no one voted Him into power. He is Sovereign. The Lord God rules His Kingdom by divine right, the right of creation. The Lord God created all things and all things belong to Him. As King David wrote, The Lord has established His throne in heaven, and His Kingdom rules over all. Psalm 103:19
There will never be another ruler, because the Lord God’s Kingdom is eternal and our King is eternal. He made that clear in His Constitution. Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your Kingdom. Psalm 45:6 Your throne is established from of old; You are from everlasting. Psalm 93:2 But to the Son He says: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your Kingdom.” Hebrews 1:8
It is the nature of a kingdom to expand its territory. The Lord God decided to expand His invisible supernatural Kingdom into the visible, natural realm. Adam was given dominion over the earthly realm, but God is still King over all because everything was created by Him and belongs to Him. As King David stated: The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein. He has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the waters. Psalm 24:1-2 For the Lord Most High is awesome; He is a great King over all the earth. Psalm 47:2
When the Lord God created mankind, He gave him dominion over the earth, but He didn’t give him ownership. The Lord God is King of the Earth and Adam and Eve were stewards, as Kingdom citizens are stewards over all that He has given us!
Understanding these things help to recognize God’s leading and divine placements in your life to lead you into a better understanding of your purpose in His Kingdom. It gives us insight into everything we must know as Kingdom citizens! Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Proverbs 4:7
Remember that your faith in the Lord God’s Word is your greatest asset in His Kingdom.
