You see, without faith it is impossible to please the Lord God.
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6 As Kingdom citizens, we should always aim to please the King. Having stated that, our first priority is to seek the Kingdom and, second, seek His righteousness. He made that clear. But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:33
Keep in mind, King Jesus never stated to seek Him. He said to seek His Father’s Kingdom and everything you need will be given to you as well. The question is what things? Jesus made this statement while speaking to His disciples: Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Matthew 6:25
So then, what do I mean by “His righteousness”? Righteousness is to be in right-standing with the Father through His principles and commands in His Word. That does not change with the culture of the day. The world does not dictate what it is to be in right-standing with the Lord God. Here is just one example: Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the Kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
The Lord God’s Constitution is the very essence of Kingdom living. It is essential and impossible to be a Kingdom citizen without it!
As a citizen, we should never concern ourselves with “things”. Those “things” will follow when we put our priorities in order. He gave us two priorities—the Kingdom and His righteousness. Everything else comes under that. The King will always take care of His citizens. This is where your trust and faith comes in. The Lord Jesus gave us this example: That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food and your body more than clothing?
Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to Him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, He will certainly care for you.
Why do you have so little faith?
So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Matthew 6:25-32 NLT
While the Lord Jesus walked on this earth, He always operated in faith. You see, He was a living example of a Kingdom lifestyle, seeing the Kingdom and His righteousness—being in right-standing with the Father. If you want or need something, then put the Kingdom of God first. Keep in mind that “things” should never be your focus. That is what the devil attempted to offer Jesus, but how can you offer the Son of the King anything, when He has total access to His Father’s wealth? Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”
Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ” Matthew 4:8-10
Keep in mind, when I speak about the Kingdom of God, I think only of what King Jesus spoke about the Kingdom as recorded in the four Gospels. Although it is certainly true that His life and words revealed His Kingdom more fully than ever before, they were the culmination of all that the Lord God had been from the beginning of time, as was everything recorded about Him in His Constitution. It all deals with the Kingdom of God, from Genesis to Revelation. It reveals the Lord God as the great and almighty King of heaven and earth. As Isaiah stated: O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, the One who dwells between the cherubim, You are God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. Isaiah 37:16
Keep in mind that the King was at work all through the ages. And you shall be to Me a Kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.” Exodus 19:6
For the Kingdom is the Lord’s, and He rules over the nations. Psalm 22:28
Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your Kingdom. Psalm 45:6
They shall speak of the glory of Your Kingdom, and talk of Your power, to make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of His Kingdom. Your Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom, and Your dominion endures throughout all generations. Psalm 145:11-13
And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a Kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the Kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. Daniel 2:44
The essence of Kingdom living is the Lord God’s character being manifest through His citizens by the Holy Spirit, our Governor.
As I have stated earlier, God’s Constitution—the Bible—isn’t about a religion, but a Kingdom. Everything leads up to the Kingdom of God. The Old Testament saints knew it; the prophets knew it, King Jesus knew it. All the apostles and other believers in the New Testament knew it. Everyone it seems understood the priority of the Kingdom. Everyone except us today, who have been blinded and conditioned by religion and the antichrist culture of the day. But once you see it, you cannot go back and unsee it. Yes, the Kingdom is here—the Kingdom is in us.
I say it again and again—your faith in the Lord God’s Word is your greatest asset in the Kingdom.
