Man's Misplaced Priority Part 2

The Father has been challenging me on our praise to Him and the focus and motivations behind it. So I ask you, "What is your primary motivation?"

A common characteristic of all religions is that they are motivated to “please their deity” to secure that the basic needs of the people will be met. For example: food, weather, protection, financial, etc. Please note that after mankind became separated from the Lord God because of his disobedience, he began to fear that his needs would not be met.

Focus Point:  Mankind invented religions in an effort to appease their gods into giving what they needed for daily life. If they did things that would “please the gods” their crops would thrive, the rains would come at the right times, the animals wouldn’t fall ill, sickness wouldn’t enter their homes, and the sun would shine. Life was pretty harsh back then and full of violence. Again, I must say, the purpose of religion was to win the good favor of the gods by words, actions and possessions. Mankind's natural instinct is self preservation and desire for comfort. It is those feelings that drive mankind.

Resetting priorities: I don’t say this to condemn, but to ask, “What drives your prayers? When you talk to the Father, how much time is focused on pure worship and how much is spent praying for needs and requests to Him?”  This is what the Lord Jesus said about our needs: Then He said to His disciples, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds? And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest? Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith?”

“And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.”

“Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.  Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches or moth destroys.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Luke 12:22-34

We pray for material possessions, better schools for our children, better jobs, favor and prosperity, etc. Sometimes we pray for “more”. But the Lord Jesus told us not to worry about ANY of those things. We were to seek only the Kingdom of God and our Father will take care of everything else. He said it is the Father’s “good pleasure to give you the Kingdom”! But that doesn’t mean He will give us everything we ask for, rather everything we need.  You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. James 4:3

Focus Point
:  In the Kingdom of God, the number one priority is to worship the Lord God through obedience to His Word and our worship and praise to Him because of who He is, not what He can do for us! “If you love Me, obey My commandments. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. John 14:15-17a NLT His Word will stand when everything else is gone.  Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. Mark 13:31 In essence, being obedient to His Word is key to being a citizen in good standing to the King. If we love the Lord Jesus, we will obey His Word.

Focus Point:  As the Lord Jesus said, “Don’t worry”!  “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food and your body more than clothing?” Matthew 6:25 NLT  Yet that is exactly what many who claim to love the Lord do—worry! Our days are filled with anxiety about the very things the Lord Jesus said not to worry about—all the basic necessities of life. Our every waking moment is filled with thoughts and concerns of how we are going to make it in this life. How will we get ahead? How will we survive? How often are our prayers merely speaking our anxieties out loud? We have worry and fear over those things because we are trying to make it on our own and focusing on “self” rather than our mighty Father.

Please note: Most people either work to live or live to work. King Jesus told us our first priority. It is that alone that we focus on and live for.   Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need. So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today. Matthew 6:33-34 NLT  Work is important and fulfills a need, but it should never define who we are. The Lord Jesus wants our total faith to be in Him. And the King rewards those who have faith in Him and His Word.

A certain centurion’s servant, who was dear to him, was sick and ready to die. So when he heard about Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews to Him, pleading with Him to come and heal his servant. And when they came to Jesus, they begged Him earnestly, saying that the one for whom He should do this was deserving, “for he loves our nation, and has built us a synagogue.”

Then Jesus went with them. And when He was already not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, “Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof. Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, “I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!” And those who were sent, returning to the house, found the servant well who had been sick. Luke 7:2-10

Your faith in Him is the answer to all your needs. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. James 1:6 Your true worth, your strength, your power is only found in Him! And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. If you love Me, keep My commandments. John 14:13-15

Yes, your faith in His Word is your greatest asset in His Kingdom.

Man's Misplaced Priority Part 1

From the very beginning, the Lord God commissioned Adam to focus on having dominion (not domination) over the earth.

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:27-28 The commission was one of Kingdom rulership. It was one of management, stewardship and certainly governmental administration over this planet earth.

Please note:  This was all before the fall of mankind due to his disobedience to the Lord God’s command. It is very important to note that there was no mentioned “working for survival and food” but only for development and fulfillment. Keep in mind that priority was never a problem in the Garden of Eden.

Focus Point:  As long as mankind walked in full and open fellowship with the Lord God, their Creator, they had no concerns. He provided for all their needs. It wasn’t even a concern. Food, water and other resources were in abundance and the perfect temperature and climate made clothing and shelter unnecessary. Adam and Eve’s first priority was to obey the Lord God’s command: to rule over the garden and all God’s creation and commune with Him. It was not to pursue resources. Adam was preoccupied with living life rather than making a living.

Keep in mind, all of that changed when Adam and Eve lost their dominion authority through disobedience. Adam and Eve were evicted from the Garden and their fellowship with the Lord God was disconnected. Now they had to pay attention to things that they once had taken for granted, such as water, food, shelter and survival itself. Now they had to strive to survive! Remember what the Lord God said to Adam:  Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’:  Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, and you shall eat the herb of the field. In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for dust you are, and to dust you shall return.” Genesis 3:17-19

Please note:  Everything that man does outside the Kingdom of God is motivated by the drive to meet his personal needs. In mankind’s never-ending struggle for survival and significance living in this fallen world, they realize that they are separated in spirit from the Lord God who created them. From that point on, man invented religion as a vehicle to reconnect with the Lord God and to find the Kingdom that he lost; a kingdom state of rulership and regain dominion over earth’s resources to meet his needs.

Focus Point:  After reading and studying, I have discovered that all forms of religion are built on the promise of meeting the needs of mankind. All religions from Baha’i to Islam, from Judaism to Christianity, from Confucianism to Scientology. It all comes back to “what it can do for me” and how my faith will ultimately benefit “me”.

When my Father allows me to wake up to another morning, the very first thing I do before my feet touch the floor is to give my King the praise for another day! My wife Arlene and I maintain that spirit of praise throughout the day. He deserves all our praise for everything! I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness, and will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High. Psalm 7:17 There are times when I drive to see my good friend at his workplace and share with him the praises of my King. Give the Lord God your praise and tell others also! Sing praises to the Lord, who dwells in Zion! Declare His deeds among the people. Psalm 9:11 Therefore I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the Gentiles, and sing praises to Your name. Psalm 18:49 I will proclaim Your name to my brothers and sisters. I will praise You among Your assembled people. Psalm 22:22 NLT

There is much more to say so I will save it for my next article. I just can’t say enough of the goodness of my Father!

Remember, your faith in the King is your greatest asset in the Kingdom.

Praise Him Regardless. . .

We need to praise the King all the time, regardless of our present situation. King David made this statement regarding the Lord: I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness, and will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High. Psalm 7:17 Notice his statement, “according to His righteousness”. We have a righteous God and King. He is the Creator of all things and always to be praised!

Please note:  Every morning when my father blesses me to see another day to continue in His purpose for my life, I give Him all praise and honor for He is my Lord and King. I am truly grateful! Praise the Lord, all you who fear Him! Honor Him, all you descendants of Jacob! Show Him reverence, all you descendants of Israel! Psalm 22:23 NLT

Focus Point:  But, do you recognize who the Lord God is? Do you see Him in your daily life and everyday situations? Can you see His hand on your life? What does He really mean to you? Is He only religious symbols and traditions? Is that how you see Him? Or is He a crucial part of how you live your life? King David knew who the Lord God was and how He impacted his daily life! Praise the Lord! For He has heard my cry for mercy. The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust Him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. Psalm 28:6-7 NLT Praising and acknowledging my Lord and King is my lifestyle. It is as normal to me as breathing! Is it that way for you? By the way, you should live your life in such a way that He gets all the praise and honor for everything in your life. Not in a religious manner, but as an integral part of life and everyday conversation. Every day there is something to praise Him for. If you don’t see it, change your focus and He will show you. Strive to be an example for all the world to see.

I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them. Psalm 34:1-7

Focus Point:   When you are praising the King and trusting in Him there is no room for fear or disappointment because He is righteous. If you trust in Him, no matter what happens in life, you know that He will take care of you and all will work together for your good in the Lord God’s time. His Word is true and is to be praised. In God (I will praise His Word), In the Lord (I will praise His Word), In God I have put my trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? Psalm 56:10-11

Be aware that if you acknowledge Him through your praise regardless of your current situation, your protection in Him is cemented. I am a living example of that! Never be ashamed to praise your Lord and King, regardless of where you may be. King David made this claim:  I will praise You, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing to You among the nations. Psalm 57:9 I will praise You as long as I live, lifting up my hands to You in prayer. You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise You with songs of joy. I lie awake thinking of You, meditating on You through the night. Psalm 63:4-6 NLT

When you are praising your King in all His righteousness there is no room for the enemy to come into your life. His territory is the world and has no part in the Kingdom of God. We should always have a posture of praise and honor to the Lord God for sending His Son Jesus the Christ to this world for us. That alone is enough to praise Him! For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3:16-17  It is because of King Jesus that we have a second chance.

I encourage you to cultivate a habit of praise and gratitude in your daily life, no matter what is going on around you. Every day, find at least three things to praise Him for. You may already be doing this—Praise the Lord! But if you aren’t, start right now. Even if life seems horrible, there is always something to thank Him for. It will snowball and your “praise list” will grow!

I will end this in praise to my King for His goodness to Arlene and I:

“The Lord God is so good! You protect our health and safety. Lord we thank You for placing us in a home where peace rules. We thank You that it feels as though You have placed us in a sheltered place, protected from the chaos and sicknesses of this world. We thank you for meeting all our needs. We thank You for wisdom and discernment. Father we thank You for guiding our steps and leading us where You would have us go. We thank You for our children and our friends and for all those you have led to our website. Father we even thank you for all the beautiful birds we see in our yard! Your Creation brings joy to our spirit! Lord we know that even our “little joys” are important to you! And Father we praise You for bringing us through 2020 and into 2021 unharmed and at peace in our home and town. Lord we love You. If we have ever placed anything or anyone before You, we repent and seek to go into 2021 completely focused on You and Your Kingdom! Praise the Lord for everything in our lives, for even any bad You will use for Your glory and to further fulfill Your purpose for our lives! You are Glorious!”

Remember, your faith in the Lord Jesus the Christ is your greatest asset in the Kingdom! Enter into the new year in praise!

Praise Him In Every Situation

5/2/2020

Picture
In times of crisis, we must always continue to acknowledge the Lord and give Him the praise He deserves.  Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.  Proverbs 3:5-6

In times of difficulty, those are the times we should always be maintaining  His praises in our life.  In all you do or say, always acknowledge His presence in your life.  Always give Him the praise.  During this time of crisis many public forums have been ordered to close their doors until this pandemic is over.  Your praise and worship of the Lord doesn't need an official meeting or to be structured corporately with others.  The Lord God wants your genuine praise, not entertainment and not a large gathering of people.  Praise Him at any given time, in any situation.  I praise the Lord in my automobile.  There are times when I have pulled over on the side of the road and just lifted my hands and praised Him for His goodness to me.  Praise the Lord!  Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty heaven!  Praise Him for His mighty works; praise His unequaled greatness!  Psalm 150:1-2

Here in the United States, many call attending church a Worship Service, but in reality it isn't.  Worshiping and praising the Lord God is an every day event, or it should be.  Read what King David stated:  I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.  Psalm 34:1 NKJV

David didn't wait for an specific time to praise His Lord and King.  Has the Lord God brought you a long way?  Have you been living according to His divine Word?  Has He ever delivered you from trouble?  Shown you grace or mercy?  Then what are you waiting for?  Stop what you are doing and praise Him for His mercy on you!  Always praise our Lord and King for you put your trust in Him and He never fails!  But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in You.  I praise God for what He has promised.  I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?  What can mere mortals do to me?  Psalm 56:3-4  Put your trust in Him and praise Him!  Do you trust in His Word?  I praise God for what He has promised; yes, I praise the Lord for what He has promised.  I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?  What can mere mortals do to me?  Psalm 56:10-11

Is there a crisis in your country, in your home or on your job?  Are you facing a situation that is beyond your control?  Trust in Him and give Him your praise regardless for He is your salvation.  Stay focused on His Word and do not lean on your own understanding.  Remember the Lord God is your Creator and God.  He loves us so much that He gave His only Son that we could be accepted through faith in His Son.  That is enough by itself for us to praise Him.  We should always make our praise known to others concerning our Lord and King.  Let the whole world sing for joy, because You govern the nations with justice and guide the people of the whole world. May the nations praise You, O God.  Yes, may all the nations praise You.  Psalm 67:4-5   Then I will praise God’s name with singing, and I will honor Him with thanksgiving.  Psalm 69:30

Your real praise comes when you are alone and there isn't anyone to pump you up.  When all it takes is remembering His mercy and goodness to you and your loved ones.  Ambassador Paul states it perfectly: And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8  Praise Him not only for what He has done, but also in faith for what He is going to do!  Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to His name. Hebrews 13:15

Remember, your faith in the Lord God's Word is your greatest asset in the Kingdom.

When is it Time to Praise the Lord God?

12/7/2019

Picture
The Lord God is worthy of our praise and our worship all day, every day, night and day!  It doesn't matter what kind of day we are having, He is worthy!  I will praise the Lord at all times.  I will constantly speak His praises.  I will boast only in the Lord; let all who are helpless take heart.  Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness; let us exalt His name together.  I prayed to the Lord, and He answered me.  He freed me from all my fears.  Those who look to Him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces.

I must say, praising the Lord God and honoring His Son Jesus the Christ should be an every day part of your life, regardless of what is happening. Whether you are having a low moment or a high moment--your focus is to stay on the Lord God and praising His Son for including us in eternal life.  It could only have been made possible through His Son being obedient to His Father God unto the cross.   For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.  God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him.

Praising the Lord God shouldn't be tied to your emotions.  So, whether you are "feeling it" or not, the Lord God is worthy of your praise in every situation.  When you begin to praise Him for all the little things in your life you may take for granted, before long you will be "feeling it"!  King David dreamed of building a house for the Lord God, but then the word of the Lord God came through the representative Nathan during the night.

But that same night God said to Nathan,

“Go and tell my servant David, ‘This is what the Lord has declared: You are not the one to build a house for me to live in.  I have never lived in a house, from the day I brought the Israelites out of Egypt until this very day. My home has always been a tent, moving from one place to another in a Tabernacle.  Yet no matter where I have gone with the Israelites, I have never once complained to Israel’s leaders, the shepherds of my people. I have never asked them, “Why haven’t you built me a beautiful cedar house?”’

“Now go and say to my servant David, ‘This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies has declared: I took you from tending sheep in the pasture and selected you to be the leader of my people Israel. I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have destroyed all your enemies before your eyes. Now I will make your name as famous as anyone who has ever lived on the earth!  And I will provide a homeland for my people Israel, planting them in a secure place where they will never be disturbed. Evil nations won’t oppress them as they’ve done in the past, starting from the time I appointed judges to rule my people Israel. And I will defeat all your enemies.

“‘Furthermore, I declare that the Lord will build a house for you—a dynasty of kings!  For when you die and join your ancestors, I will raise up one of your descendants, one of your sons, and I will make his kingdom strong.  He is the one who will build a house—a temple—for me. And I will secure his throne forever. I will be his father, and he will be my son. I will never take my favor from him as I took it from the one who ruled before you.  I will confirm him as king over my house and my kingdom for all time, and his throne will be secure forever.’”

The Lord God had other plans.  After God spoke to King David through Nathan, King David began to praise the Lord God's name.   “O Lord, there is no one like you. We have never even heard of another God like you!  What other nation on earth is like your people Israel? What other nation, O God, have you redeemed from slavery to be your own people? You made a great name for yourself when you redeemed your people from Egypt. You performed awesome miracles and drove out the nations that stood in their way.  You chose Israel to be your very own people forever, and you, O Lord, became their God.

“And now, O Lord, I am your servant; do as you have promised concerning me and my family. May it be a promise that will last forever. And may your name be established and honored forever so that everyone will say, ‘The Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, is Israel’s God!’

Keep in mind that King David praised the Lord God because of His promises that came through His servant Nathan.  Now that was faith in the Lord God's Word.  David believed the Lord God even though it hadn't appeared yet!  Remember what ambassador Paul stated:   Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.  Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation.  By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.

Praising the Lord God is a lifestyle, no just an occurrence. “O Lord, the God of our ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, make your people always want to obey you. See to it that their love for you never changes.  Give my son Solomon the wholehearted desire to obey all your commands, laws, and decrees, and to do everything necessary to build this Temple, for which I have made these preparations.” Then David said to the whole assembly, “Give praise to the Lord your God!” And the entire assembly praised the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and they bowed low and knelt before the Lord and the king.  Keep this in mind, David never took the Lord God's goodness to him for granted.  Repeatedly he told the Lord God how good He was and how grateful he was for His so many blessings.  King David acknowledged the sovereign Savior and Lord. I love you, Lord; You are my strength.  The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.  He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.  I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and He saved me from my enemies... The Lord lives! Praise to my Rock!  May the God of my salvation be exalted!... For this, O Lord, I will praise You among the nations; I will sing praises to Your name.  We would do well to follow King David's example.

Remember, your faith in the Lord God's Word is your greatest asset in His Kingdom.

A Willing Sacrifice of Praise

Then Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the Lord:  “I will sing to the Lord, for He has triumphed gloriously; He has hurled both horse and rider into the sea..."

Keep in mind that in the Lord God's Constitution, the expression of praise often includes the word will.  Throughout the book of Psalm, King David said much concerning his praise to the Lord God.  I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness, and will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.  NKJV  David acknowledged the goodness that the Lord God had shown him.  It was to the extent that he began to sing His praises in a song.  But I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.  I will sing to the Lord, because He has dealt bountifully with me...The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him.  NKJV  The word will can imply a future time.  It can also speak of a conscious choice.  In essence, you are determined to praise the King.  It is a choice that you make.  That is what the scripture in God's Constitution calls a sacrifice or offering of praise.  King David was always grateful to his Father God.  Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is with those who uphold my life.  He will repay my enemies for their evil.  Cut them off in Your truth.  I will freely sacrifice to You; I will praise Your name, O Lord, for it is good. NKJV

Praise becomes a sacrifice when you offer it to the Lord God for no other reason than He deserves it and asks you to do it.  To be honest, there are times when we may not feel like praising Him, but we shouldn't go by our feelings in the moment.   In his letter to the Hebrew citizens, ambassador Paul made this statement:    Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to His name.  And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.  Keep this in the forefront of your mind:  the first thing that should come out of your mouth when you wake up in the morning is a praise to your Lord and King!  When I was a young boy, I used to help my maternal grandfather harvest their fruit as well as vegetables.  Let me tell you, that was hard work!  Sometimes praising the Lord requires the same effort.  We don't "feel" like it.  But that is why it is imperative that we learn to live above our momentary "feelings" and grow our self-control fruit!

Try this:  The next time you are having a difficult time or going through a crisis, instead of calling on your spiritual leaders to minister to you and help you through it, offer up some sacrificial praise.  Yes!  Have a praise service right where you are.  Sacrifice your hurt feelings, anxiety, your financial crises, and begin to praise the Lord God for what He has already done.  No matter how bad things look, there is always something to praise Him for!  Anyone can praise Him when everything is going well.  It is no sacrifice.  But if you've just lost your job and don't know what to do or where to even start, praise Him.  Praise Him for the way He's always taken care of you...for an opportunity to get a better job...praise Him because there's food in the pantry...praise Him because you know with all that is in you that He has already worked it out in your favor...praise Him because you have learned to trust Him with all your heart and you feel God's peace in Your spirit!

Learn to make a conscious choice to lay aside all that pulls you down and brings fear and anxiety, depression or hopelessness and open your mouth and talk to the Lord God.  In those times, give Him your sacrifice of praise.  Tell Him how wonderful and great He is to you!  Tell the Father that He is worth more to you than everything else in this world.  Tell Him there is nothing this world can offer that is worth more than Him.

Remember, the sacrifice of praise won't cost you anything financially, but it will cost you your self-centeredness and your natural tendency to dwell on whatever is wrong in your life.  Stop focusing on problems and praise the One who has the answers.  Giving the Lord God your praise means that you choose to dwell on Him instead of yourself.  He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.”

One more thing I must say for clarity.  This sacrifice can never be forced from you by someone else.  You may sing or raise your hands because someone may tell you to, but an outward show isn't an inward praise.  A sacrifice of praise come from within and bubble over!  Read what the Lord God told Moses:  And when you offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the Lord, offer it of your own free will.  NKJV

Remember, your greatest asset is your faith in the Word of God.

Praising the King Part 3

We as Kingdom citizens are called to be of one mindset, a Kingdom mindset, with a desire to please our King and praise Him with our life!  But many believers are self-focused.  When people are self-focused they tend to see praise and worship from a viewpoint of how it affects them.  That is why it has become more about entertainment than praising the Lord!  Praise and worship is treated as an introduction or preliminary part that they must get through to get to the "important part".  At least that is true here in the United States.  We have become far too casual and familiar with our worship and with the Lord Jesus.  We treat Him as though He isn't a priority.

Praising Him should always be the first thing we do when we rise up in the morning.  Praising Him should always be on your lips.  Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and forevermore!  From the rising of the sun to its going down the Lord’s name is to be praised.  NKJV  Remember that it is the parents' responsibility to share the Lord God's praises to their children.  They learn what they see modeled by their parents!  We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about His power and His mighty wonders.  For He issued His laws to Jacob; He gave His instructions to Israel.  He commanded our ancestors to teach them to their children, so the next generation might know them—even the children not yet born—and they in turn will teach their own children.  So each generation should set its hope anew on God, not forgetting His glorious miracles and obeying His commands.  Then they will not be like their ancestors—stubborn, rebellious, and unfaithful, refusing to give their hearts to God.  You should always be praising the Lord and His Word! There is always something to praise the Lord for!

I praise God for what He has promised; yes, I praise the Lord for what He has promised.  I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?  What can mere mortals do to me?  People who praise the Lord God on a regular basis do so because they have found the Lord to be so altogether lovely that they can't stop thinking of Him and talking about Him.  They have gotten close enough to the King to see His true nature and character.  By the way, they have found in Him more than everything they have ever hoped for in this life!

You can't brag about someone you never knew. If you did, your bragging would be a false statement.  In other words, you would be guilty of lying. So, although praise may start with what you know about the Lord God, it must eventually progress to what you yourself have experienced of the King.  Keep in mind, you don't have to work up your praise, it automatically bubbles up within you.  Just think about all that He has done for you and all he has saved you from!

He is your joy, strength, comfort, peace, your all-in-all!  Always remember, your life is anchored in Him and His goodness to you brings His name to the forefront of your thoughts and your lips repeatedly.  In essence, praise that flows from a deep relationship with the Lord God is genuine and authentic.

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart; be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.  NKJV

Remember, your faith in the Lord God's Word is your greatest asset in the Kingdom.

Praising the King Part 2

Praising the Lord God makes Him our number one priority.  In essence, it puts Him in first place in your life.  Praise always turns our attention from ourselves to the Lord God.  It takes us from selfish to selfless.  In today's narcissistic world, overflowing  with "selfies" and social media, that is a major accomplishment!  Praising the Lord is about remembering and recounting who He is and what He has done, rather than wallowing in the mire of self-absorption.  You put your trust in Him rather than yourself.  Our human nature is to be self-centered.  That is why our nature has to be changed with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  Ambassador Paul made it very clear here in Romans:   And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.  You must change the way you think in order to truly praise the Lord Jesus and His Father.

Praise turns your eyes from yourself to the Lord God.  It focuses your thoughts on His majesty and power and invites those around you to do the same.  Remember, you are to be the example as a Kingdom citizen.  Do you recall what ambassador Paul said in his letter to brother Timothy?  Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity. Do you remember what our Lord and King stated while He was here on the earth?   “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.  Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." NKJV  Glorify!  "Let your life be so that others may notice it and glorify the Father who is in heaven."  That's right! Without even saying a word, when your life reflects life God's Kingdom and the attributes of the King, you are praising Him!  The Lord God gets the glory, not you.  In essence, praise is bragging about the Lord God instead of about yourself or the idols of this present world.  It is celebrating who He is and how He relates to us as an individual.  Remember, you are His temple and you should always have the attitude of praising the King.

Keep in mind, those who have been saved should be of the same mindset.  Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.  NKJV  You must be of one mindset, focused on the King and believing the same thing.  But we know that is not the norm in most churches today.  Denominations show that believers in Jesus the Christ are not like-minded!  It is even difficult to find people within a denomination who are like-minded! The very concept of denominational churches is the antithesis of His church being like-minded!  One mind, one accord? Sadly no!  It is because they have become more focused on their rules, regulations, traditions, bylaws, leadership positions, bank accounts and membership numbers! How can we truly be focused on the King and praising Him for who He is when we know more about our bylaws than Him?

I will stop at this point and continue this next time.  But this week, take a self-evaluation.  Where is your focus?  Are you able to freely focus on His goodness and praise His name for who He is and all He has done?  What are you distracted by?  What has your attention and your time?  Take a moment to write down things you are thankful for. Then praise Him!

Praising the King Pt 1

What is praise? As I was in the kitchen getting coffee, waiting on His confirmation on which subject to write on next, I was led by the Holy Spirit to write about this very important subject, Praise and Worship.

Praise is commending, expressing approval or a favorable judgment of; glorifying, especially by crediting with perfection.  I praise and thank Him every morning and throughout the day, for He is my Lord and King.  Now, to commend someone is "to entrust for care or preservation" or "to recommend as worthy of confidence or notice".

Praising the Lord God by commendation means that you entrust yourself to His care and recommend that others do exactly the same.  Keep in mind that King David's writings in Psalm  is filled with testimonies of the Lord God's trustworthiness and with his expression of confidence that He will again prove Himself trustworthy.  O Lord my God, in You I put my trust; save me from all those who persecute me; and deliver me... And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.... Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust...Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. NKJV

To praise the Lord God by commendation, applies to the promises of our personal circumstances.  Remember, to approve of someone is to have or express a favorable opinion of him or her and to show esteem.  Personal experience is at the heart of this expression of praise.  God's Constitution has many examples of personal expressions of approval toward the Lord God.   But You see the trouble and grief they cause.  You take note of it and punish them.  The helpless put their trust in You. You defend the orphans... But as for me, I will sing about Your power.  Each morning I will sing with joy about Your unfailing love.  For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress.  O my Strength, to You I sing praises, for You, O God, are my refuge, the God who shows me unfailing love... O God, You are my God; I earnestly search for You.  My soul thirsts for You; my whole body longs for You in this parched and weary land where there is no water.  I have seen you in your sanctuary and gazed upon your power and glory.  Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise You!  I will praise You as long as I live, lifting up my hands to You in prayer.  You satisfy me more than the richest feast.  I will praise You with songs of joy.

Take a moment to think about your past and present situation.  Think about the numerous times the Lord God delivered you from the situations you put yourself in.  Think of the times you were without a place to live or without a well-paying job or even no job at all.  These are personal situations that you and the Lord God are aware of.  Praise by approving is turning our thoughts toward the Lord God and what He has done for us.  It is reciting the wonder of who He is and how He made a difference in your life and the life of others.

As I write these words, I can't help but take this time to praise the name of the Lord Jesus, Hallelujah! He has been so good to me.

Now let us talk about the word "glorify".  To glorify someone is to "bestow honor, praise or admiration".  In essence, giving glory to someone specifically identifies what is admirable in that person.  That type of praise is also quite frequent in God's Constitutional scriptures, what is commonly referred to as the Bible.  Remember, Bible is a religious term, not a Kingdom government term.  Now, the Lord God is shown in the scriptures as being:

Good:  Taste and see that the Lord is good.  Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in Him!
Faithful
:  But if we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
Righteous
:  For the righteous Lord loves justice.  The virtuous will see His face.
Just: The leaders of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, “The Lord is just.”  NIV
and merciful and forgiving.  But the Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against Him.  These are just a few examples.

I will close this teaching by adding that the Lord God's dwelling place, His law, His character and His actions are described as being perfect and flawless.  We will continue with this at a later time.

Always remember, your faith in the King and His Word is your greatest asset in the Kingdom.
