Currently, we live in a small city called Easley here in the United States. I am so thankful that the Holy Spirit, our Governor, clearly led us here. But I have spent most of my life in New York City, where there wasn’t any shortage of people with great wealth. I definitely wasn’t one of them, but I certainly saw them all around the city! But the whole time I was under my Father’s protection and provision because of my mother's prayers.
When you allow the Governor to lead you, He truly will lead you to all truth. But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. John 15:26 You will never be deceived if you listen when our Governor, the Holy Spirit, speaks. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. John 16:13-14
Be led by the Holy Spirit, our Governor, not by how you may feel or what you may see. Emotions are temporary and very deceptive. Trust His leading. There was a time when I was led to pay for a couple’s groceries. It was just as I was about to walk out of the store. I had seen them in the store while I was shopping, and the Governor led me to go back and pay for their groceries. Now, my emotions could have tried to remind me of all the ways I could use that money and talk me out of what I was being told. It could have talked me out of being obedient. But I was honored that the Lord chose me to be a blessing to them. It didn’t matter how much it was, my King informed me to do it. He never fails to bless me to be able to give, even when doubt creeps in! When He leads us to give, we don’t count our dollars, we just say yes! On the flip side of that, do not allow yourself to be coerced into giving out of guilt or emotional "arm twisting". If the Holy Spirit isn't leading you to give, then give only if you have the desire to do so.
In God’s Kingdom giving is a way of life. Remember, we own nothing. Everything that we have in our possession belongs to the King. We are stewards of all we possess, not owners. We, as citizens of His Kingdom, should share with those of like minds who are in need. We know that we own nothing but are always willing to obey the Governor as He leads us. Read what Dr. Luke recorded in God’s Constitution: All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God’s great blessing was upon them all. There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need. Acts 4:32-35 NLT
Being led by the Holy Spirit—our Governor—is absolutely vital, especially these days. Without His leading, we will surely be deceived. There are many deceivers out there who claim to be holy when they are not. If you don’t know God’s Word and the voice of the Holy Spirit you will be deceived and led away from the Father. Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. Matthew 24:23-24
Dear brothers and sisters, pattern your lives after mine, and learn from those who follow our example. For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth. But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for Him to return as our Savior. He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like His own, using the same power with which He will bring everything under His control. Philippians 3:17-21 NLT
This is why it is so important to be led by the Governor and not how you feel. Keep this thought in mind: the Lord Jesus was led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit, our Governor. Yes sometimes we are led by the Holy Spirit, our Governor, into a season of uncomfortable testing! Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. Matthew 4:1 Then He was ready to begin teaching about God’s Kingdom! From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 4:17
Remember what King Jesus said to His disciples: “If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.” John 14:15-17
Submit yourself to the Holy Spirit’s leading. Be governed by the Governor and you will never be misled. When people are blessed, it is because someone was led by the Holy Spirit. Make it your goal to never miss an opportunity to be led by His Spirit. When He speaks, don’t count the cost, but trust Him and say Yes! He knows you and your needs better than you do. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. As the Scriptures say, “They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.”
Yes! Arlene and I are living testimonies to this! Truly He has always provided for all that we need. His Word is truth. His principles never fail.
For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, He will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. 2 Corinthians 9:7-10 NLT
Remember, your greatest asset is your faith in the King’s Word.
