We are living in a time that requires radical faith. This present world has been going through some radical changes. But it was inevitable. Why? Because King Jesus told us that it would, long ago. Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”
Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”
And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” Matthew 24:1-8 Note that He said “these are just the beginning of sorrows”. Keep in mind that these things have been going on for centuries. The Lord God is patient with us. He doesn’t want any of us to be lost, but we know that all will not accept Him as their Lord and Savior.
Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. They will say, “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.”
They deliberately forget that God made the heavens long ago by the word of His command, and He brought the earth out from the water and surrounded it with water. Then He used the water to destroy the ancient world with a mighty flood. And by the same Word, the present heavens and earth have been stored up for fire. They are being kept for the day of judgment, when ungodly people will be destroyed.
But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn’t really being slow about His promise, as some people think. No, He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment. 2 Peter 3:3-10 NLT
Yes, change is inevitable. But the older I get, the more radical my faith in my King becomes! My faith in my Lord and King is becoming cemented in Him. That cement is His Word and I am learning to depend more on His Word!
What is the definition of radical? The obvious definition is very different from the usual or traditional; extreme; favoring extreme change. Yes, our faith will make us look radical and foreign to this world. But when I read the other definitions, I could also relate them to faith!
Of or growing from the root of a plant. From that definition, I see faith growing out of the Word in which we are rooted. It is the source of our strength and nourishment!
This one is even better: designed to remove the root of a disease or all diseased and potentially diseased tissue, as in “radical surgery” or “radical mastectomy”! Yes! Glory to God! That is exactly what radical faith will do for you! Healed and free from disease!
Every Kingdom citizen must grow to the level of having radical faith in the Lord Jesus and His Word. So, what does it mean to have radical faith? It is simply putting your total faith and trust in Him without any doubt. Sounds impossible? It is far worse to drown in a world of fear, worry and anxiety.
Radical faith is your lifejacket in the world today!
When the Lord Jesus healed and delivered people, radical faith was there! When the Lord Jesus spoke to the fig tree and caused it to wither, He used it as a lesson in having faith: Now in the morning, as He returned to the city, He was hungry. And seeing a fig tree by the road, He came to it and found nothing on it but leaves, and said to it, “Let no fruit grow on you ever again.” Immediately the fig tree withered away.
And when the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, “How did the fig tree wither away so soon?”
So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done. And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” Matthew 21:18-22
Believers with radical faith in King Jesus even seem strange to average Christians that look more like the world than the believers we read about in the Lord God’s Word. Believers with radical faith have no fear in what man may do to them. They do not fear death, but totally trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. To have this kind of faith in our King Jesus will cause you to stand out above the rest. Others will call you a fanatic, extreme and out of touch with reality. And they will be correct, when comparing you with the world’s norm.
A fanatic goes beyond what is reasonable. Others will call you overzealous. But there are far worse things than being radical, fanatical and overzealous for our Lord Jesus Christ!
Do you know the Will of the Lord God? It is to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ with your whole being! Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”
Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God: that you believe in Him whom He sent.” John 6:28-29
The more WORD you get in you, the less WORLD will remain.
Remember, your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is your greatest asset in the Kingdom. It is the key to a Kingdom life.
