Humbling ourselves is one of the keys to entering the Kingdom. It is all a process. We must learn to detox from what we have learned—and “caught”—here in this fallen world. Do you recall what King Jesus stated while He was here on earth? At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the Kingdom of heaven?”
Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the Kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:1-4
Change doesn’t usually happen in an instant. Change is about being converted from one person to another. How are we changed? Remember, the Lord Jesus became the Word in the flesh. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14 When you obey the Lord Jesus, you are obeying Him because Jesus is the Word that became flesh and walked among us. Through being obedient to His Word, it will most definitely change you. You can’t be full of His Word and not be changed! The Lord Jesus was obedient to His Father through His physical death here on earth. Yet now, brethren, I know that you did it in ignorance, as did also your rulers. But those things which God foretold by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled. Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.
For Moses truly said to the fathers, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’” Acts 3:17-23
It is vital for us to study the Lord God’s constitution. His Word renews and transforms (changes) our mind. His Word gives us the courage and strength to stand in this age. Knowledge of His Word gives us direction and shows us His purpose for our lives. The reason so many individuals fail as believers is because they have so little knowledge of His Word. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. James 1:5-8
When speaking to the children of Israel through the representative Hosea, here is what He said: My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; because you have forgotten the law of your God, also will forget your children. Hosea 4:6 He wasn’t speaking to those individuals who didn’t know, but to His people. Remember, He started, “My people. . .” It was a charge against His people Israel, not the lost people of the world! Hear the word of the Lord, you children of Israel, for the Lord brings a charge against the inhabitants of the land: “There is no truth or mercy or knowledge of God in the land. By swearing and lying, killing and stealing and committing adultery, they break all restraint, with bloodshed upon bloodshed. Hosea 4:1-2 Believe it or not, there are many people who claim to know the Lord God who are doing the very same things. Remember what the Lord Jesus said while He was here on earth. It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. But there are some of you who do not believe.”
For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him. And He said, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.” John 6:63-65
His Word has changed my entire life. If people who knew me twenty years ago saw me, they may recognize my face, but they would not recognize me because I am completely transformed from who I once was! But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like Him as we are changed into His glorious image. 2 Corinthians 3:16-18 NLT
Remember, your faith in the Lord God’s Word is your most valuable asset in His Kingdom.
