Do You Have Integrity?

Picture
INTEGRITY:  “the quality or state of being of sound moral principle; uprightness, honesty, and sincerity”

Integrity is doing what you say you will do...keeping commitments and appointments. Integrity puts the shopping cart back in the corral. Integrity says "I'll be there"...and is! Integrity overcomes evil with good.  Integrity behaves the same way when they're on vacation as when they are home.

Integrity does the righteous thing even when no one is looking.

Imagine your world if everyone--including yourself--walked in INTEGRITY.

What if all of God's people--citizens of His Kingdom--walked in integrity?  Do you think we could change the world?  I think we could make a difference for sure.

Luke 16:10  “He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much.

Proverbs 19:1  Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity than a rich man who is perverse in his speech and is a [self-confident] fool.

“According to Scripture, virtually everything that truly qualifies a person for leadership is directly related to character. It’s not about style, status, personal charisma, clout, or worldly measurements of success. Integrity is the main issue that makes the difference between a good leader and a bad one.”  ~ John MacArthur

“Few things are more infectious than a godly lifestyle. The people you rub shoulders with everyday need that kind of challenge. Not prudish. Not preachy. Just cracker jack clean living. Just honest to goodness, bone--deep, non-hypocritical integrity.”  ~ Chuck Swindoll

I believe Job has earned right to the last words on this subject:

Job 27:4-6
Surely my lips shall not speak unrighteousness, Neither shall my tongue utter deceit.  Far be it from me that I should justify you: Till I die I will not put away mine integrity from me.  My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: My heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.

Your Character Develops From What You Believe

Dr. Munroe once stated "We lead out of our beliefs".  That statement is so true.  I always said, when a political candidate runs for office, they always bring what they believe to the office and eventually it will show itself.  All people follow generally the same course as they develop character, whether that character ultimately ends up positive or negative.  The process occurs like this:

A.  What we believe leads to our convictions.
B.  Our convictions produce our values (which are tied to our attitudes and perceptions)
C.  Our values form our morals, or principles.
D.  Our morals and principles lead to corresponding personal conduct, especially in the case of positive character, morals and principles.  It also prompts us to exercise personal discipline for the purpose of remaining aligned with our convictions.
E.  Our conduct or disciplined actions manifest as our ethics.
F.  Our ethics result in our character.
G.  And, our character determines our lifestyle.

Are you aware that most of those who call themselves "Christians" really don't know who Jesus the Christ really is?  It takes work to believe in God's Son.  The work is building your faith.  Read what King Jesus stated to His disciples:   Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”  Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”  In other words, if you truly believe in the Word of God, then all the above will eventually reflect in your character.  If an individual wants to change their character then they must first change the way they think.  If a person wants to change their belief system, he has to change his ideas about himself and his ideas concerning the world.

Keep in mind, our philosophy, or belief system, has been formulated throughout our lives by our responses to various influences.  Those influences include our families, friends, heritage and culture, our physical and environments, education, religious affiliations, knowledge, the media, our associates, co-workers, etc.  So you can see why it is "work" to believe in Christ.  Your faith is your greatest asset.  (Your faith in God's Promises)

Some Distinguishing Marks of a True Leader

Jesus is our perfect example of a true leader. Jesus was very concerned about people in all three categories:  mind, body and spirit.  He was a true representative of the Kingdom.  True leaders concern themselves with the people's needs.  They don't distance themselves from the people.  Often when religious leaders gain a large following, and put themselves up as pastors, prophets, apostles and evangelists, they lose touch with those who are poor financially, spiritually and intellectually.  The church as we know it in the United States has lost concern for its real mission--preaching the kingdom to the poor in spirit, while feeding the poor in body and mind.  Jesus was a perfect example while He was here on earth.  Then great multitudes came to Him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others; and they laid them down at Jesus’ feet, and He healed them.  True leaders go out of their way for their people.  They don't have what they call an "armor bearer".  We are not in a war.  Jesus resisted the devil with the Word of God ...It is written, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God'.

Jesus, being the king He was, showed concern for the people as they followed Him while He was teaching them the kingdom.  When they became physically hungry, He showed concern and did something about it.   Now Jesus called His disciples to Himself and said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat. And I do not want to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.”  The people were hungry for the Word to the point they stayed with Him for three days without physical food.  That is what I call "seeking the Kingdom".  But King Jesus knew they needed physical nourishment.  Keep in mind, Jesus had access to His Father's riches.  People who are rich often keep their money in safes, bonds, bands, etc.  They are what we call hoarders.  They keep it to themselves.  True leaders realize that they have access not ownership.
Please note:
A.  Leadership is not about having power over people; it is about empowering people.
B.  Leadership is not about controlling others; it is about serving them.
C.  Leadership is not about doing; it is about becoming a person of noble aspirations.

My questions to you are:  Will you be a leader of conviction?  Will you be a leader of character, who truly cares about God's people?

Remember, you will give an account for every word.   But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.

The Blind Leading the Blind, But True Leaders Are Filled

As I study the life of my King, He is the greatest leader and definitely our eternal King.  Remember, Jesus was with His Father from the beginning of creation.  Jesus is the Word in the flesh.  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.  Remember, that same Word walked and lived among us.  And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

In order for one to be a great leader, one must be a great follower.  King Jesus was that great follower.  Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.  Now that is demonstration of true leadership. wouldn't you say?

We need to make sure our eyes are fully open, so that we will know where our leaders are taking us, and can avert potential disaster.  This is why it is so important to read and study God's Constitution, and be filled with the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit comes to those who are obedient to the King's Word.  These are the true representatives and leaders of the Kingdom.  But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.  A true leader never considers their life, and death is an option.  We are God's children, not "Christians" but citizens of the Kingdom.  We have the greater power John reminds us of: You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.  True divine leaders are led by the Holy Spirit; not by their wives, customs, traditions, the deacon board or trustee board, etc.  The ambassador Paul made it very plain when he stated these words:  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.  This isn't just a title, this is who you really are, sons and daughters of God.  His indwelling Spirit gives you that ownership.  Keep in mind what King Jesus stated:  That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Character Means Everything In Leadership

There are so many leaders and pastors in religious institutions around the United States who have failed miserably in bringing the message of the Kingdom.  Individuals become leaders when they make the decision not to sacrifice their principles on the altar of convenience or compromise.  By going under the guise of the name "Christianity" many leaders have effectively distorted the Kingdom message.  Jesus our King while on this earth made this statement:  For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?  In effect, an individual can "gain the world" through the power and riches associated with him or her leadership, but, at the same time, forfeit his or her soul, the very core of their being.  This will take place by ignoring or betraying their own character.  In doing so, they can lose their leadership impact and longevity; not to mention their reason for their very existence.  That is a tragic waste of their leadership and their life.  As Dr. Munroe once stated:  "The only way to protect what you hope to accomplish as a leader, and what you have already accomplished, is to develop and maintain strong personal character".

A leader's failure can change the reputation of the government, company, organization, or associations with which they are connected.  A leader's values are personal, but they are never private.  Leaders who fail to control their children and lead their family, how can they be trusted to lead and teach God's people; but yet it is being done.  Remember what Paul stated in God's Constitution:  for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?  There are so many pastors, whose children are having babies out of wedlock and the members are following suit.  They think nothing of it.  This is why leadership with character is so important. Some leaders fail dramatically and publicly while destroying their legacies in an instant.  Other leaders unravel their legacies over a long, slow moral descent that eventually ruins their lives.  When longevity of an individual's leadership is cut short by a character flaw, he is often unable to leave the legacy that he was meant to give to his generation.  He has to forfeit his vision, or if not his vision itself, then his own participation in that vision.

Remember, character preserves a leader's cause and legacy.

Differences Between Kingdom Citizens and "Christians"

First, allow me to share the origin of the word Christian.  It first came on the scene in history in the city called Antioch.  Then Barnabas departed for Tarsus to seek Saul. And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.  You see, this was truly stated, but not a statement of truth.  The people of Antioch named them "Christians", God didn't;  and neither did their Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ.  From there, the name became infectious.  The people gave them that name because they worshiped and followed Christ's teachings.  Please understand this statement:  if people name you, they will define you.

From that point on, individuals who claim to believe and follow Jesus' teachings were called "Christians".  Then Agrippa said to Paul, “You almost persuade me to become a Christian.”  This is when saints behavior represented the Kingdom.  From that point on, many who followed Christ's teaching began to embrace that name the people of Antioch gave them.   Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.  Nowadays, most who say that they believe in God, claim to be a "Christian" regardless of their principles and behavior.

Kingdom Citizens on the other hand, live by God's Constitution and most of all, they are filled with His Spirit.  Jesus told His disciples to stay in that one place until the helper came.   And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”  Where do you think the Holy Spirit comes from?  The Kingdom of God--from the Lord God Himself.  His Spirit makes us genuine citizens in good standing with the King.  Why?  Because Kingdom Citizens live by every Word of God, and they worship His Son King Jesus.  Christ's reply to the devil was this:  ...“It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”

Remember, Kingdom Citizens live by God's Word, which are His laws and principles; not by religious traditions and customs of men.  They read and study the King's Word every day to encourage them in their purpose while they are on this planet.

Singleness is for Us All

This is the truth.  So many marriage counselors, whether religious or secular, will tell you that most of marital problems arise because the husband or wife (if not both) have never seen themselves as unique, worthy individuals.  They have a poor self-image, or they are schizophrenic (meaning-a major mental disorder of unknown cause typically characterized by a separation between the thought processes and the emotions, distortion of reality accompanied by delusions and hallucinations, a fragmentation of the personality, motor disturbances, bizarre behavior).  Does that sound like anyone you may have known?  These individuals are not separate, but always dependent on some other individual to make them happy.  What I am saying is this, until you are truly single, marriage will be difficult and perhaps a negative experience.  But your marriage will get better as you become more single--whole, unique.

And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”  In essence, God stated "I am going to make him an assistant, one who will be suitable, or like him; another being who will complement him and be complemented by him".  What we need to understand is that God made a second human being, not just for Adam to marry, but in order that he would not be alone.  Therefore, you do not have to get married in order not to be alone; all you need to not be alone is to have some other humans to be your companions and close friends.  And I am not speaking of friends with sexual benefits.  "Christians" too often indulge in that kind of sexual behavior.  Kingdom Citizens live by every word in His Constitution.  So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.

Keep this in mind, God "presented" Eve to Adam.  At first He didn't give Eve to Adam as a wife.  Rather He presented Adam with a companion just right for him. Adam was not alone in the sense of being without some kind of companionship.

Singleness, the Misunderstanding

For years I misunderstood the word "singleness" until I studied it with a kingdom mindset, thanks to my friend Dr. Munroe.  There is a myth or an erroneous concept of singleness.  As a matter of fact, people do not have a "singleness problem".  They have an entirely different problem called "being single".  Some of the things that you read may surprise you, but please keep reading.

Let us consider the concept of that ever-abiding concern which seems to control and influence so many lives, "singleness".  The question is, what is singleness?  What does it mean to be single?  Any dictionary definition will have these words or synonyms for them:  to be separate, unique and whole.  Would you want to stop being a whole or unique individual?  Would you want to lose your identity?  Of course not.  So what is the problem with singleness?  There is no problem.  The problem is with our definition, which has been given to us by a cultural socio-economic system under the rulership of satan, the god of this "world order".  Read what God's Constitution states:  whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.  The world's definition which the church has adopted, opens the door to hurt, rejection and even self-hatred.  We have confused "singleness" with "being alone".  Will there ever be a time, has there ever been a time, when you will cease to be "separate, unique and whole"?  If your answer is "no" then the next question is, Does getting married do away with this definition of being single?  When you get married, do you stop being a single individual who is unique and whole?  God's Constitution does not teach that singleness is bad, negative or unhealthy.

If a state of "singleness" means "to be unique and whole", then to be totally single should be every Kingdom Citizen's number one goal.  Now, here is a statement that you should understand:  Until you are separate, single, unique and a whole individual, you actually are not ready to get married.  For example:  Before a man gets married, he should have work, not get work.  The woman is a man's helper.  In order for her to help him, he must first be in his purpose in order for her to assist him.  He can't be doing nothing.

Enlightenment is in the Process, Not the Destination

This is so true.  As you go through this life, you should notice the objects that you pass on your way to your destination. The books you read and the music you listen to, should assist you in your journey.  But the course should be one of continuing development of mind, spirit and intellect.  The process should be one of ever learning and ever teaching through words and behavior. Otherwise it will become non-productive.

The definition of process is:  1) the course of being done  2) a course of time  3) a continuing development involving many changes 4) a particular method of doing something, generally involving a number of steps or operations.

It is our responsibility to learn and educate ourselves with the process that will cause us to be mature in the Kingdom of God.  We are to cultivate our minds and spirits with the principles and laws of the kingdom.  Sometimes the process may be difficult, but we can always depend on the Lord God keeping His Word.  Remember the King always keeps His Word.  “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent.  Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?"  Also keep in mind, that the God of the heavens and earth does not change, regardless of the world may say or do.  "For I am the Lord, I do not change", His character always remains the same.

We should always enjoy the process that the Lord God has laid out for our lives, because the destination will always be worth it.  Keep in mind, that spirits can never die, only placed from one eternity to another.  Eternal life or eternal damnation.  While we live in this three dimensional body on planet earth, we have the last and final opportunity to choose.  Remember what King Jesus stated:  "Most assuredly I say to you, if anyone keeps My Word he shall never see death".

Being Single and Being Alone

My wife and I are single; that is a paradox.  If you are able to catch hold of this revelation of the difference between being single and being alone, you will never again despise the state of being unmarried.  I learned it and so must you.  Also, you will not marry or encourage others to get married, based on wrong reasons.  The church today is suffering from confusion among young and old alike.  divorced and widowed, and those who are unhappy with their marriage because of misunderstanding this concept.  There are many pastors and congregations who pressure unmarried individuals in their churches to stop being alone, when the people have not yet achieved the state of being single!  The result is more unhappy marriages and more divorces.

Remember the primary thing you  need to understand from God's Constitution is that when God observed that it was not good for Adam to be alone, Adam was totally whole (Eve was taken from him), totally unique and totally separate.  He didn't know that he even needed someone to assist him.  Remember Adam had work and responsibility before he had a companion.   And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.

Here is my advice to you.  Until you get to that state, you aren't ready to stop being alone.  This is what happened to me before I met and married Arlene.  "In other words, God stated, 'It is not good for a man to be alone if he is single".  That means, you do not need to get married until you are truly a single person.  You are better off alone, if you are not yet single, if you are not yet unique, separate and whole. Remember, after God presented (meaning, put on display) Eve to Adam, then Adam chose to take her and to give himself to her.  At that stage, Adam was qualified to give himself away.  Remember, first things first.

The Season of Change

If you have a photo of yourself fifteen years ago, hold it up and then look in the mirror.  Time produces change, and everything that exists and functions within time inevitably experiences change.  King Solomon in one of his books in God's Constitution said: "To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under the heaven".  These words capture the spirit of change that is inherent in time:  everything is "seasonal" or functions in a limited time frame.  They also communicate the following principles, which are the fountain of what I believe:

A.  Everything that is created--everything that is below the invisible, eternal realm of God--exists in time
B.  Everything that exists in time has a purpose, and each of these purposes has a season for its fulfillment.
C.  God's purpose and activities within time are designed for seasons, which in turn require change.

Now because we live in a world governed by time, we live according to seasons, and our lives are subject to change.  Change is the essence of our experience of life.  I truly believe that if many individuals would have taken the time to evaluate their lives, with the word "change", there would be less self-imposed destruction through suicide, alcoholism, drugs, pornography and other means of escape from the difficulties of this life.  You see, what I have realized is this, my faith is my greatest asset in the kingdom, like the woman who had the issue of blood for twelve years.  But Jesus turned around, and when He had saw her He said, "Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well".  And the woman was made well from that hour.

If you  know that everything in life is only for a season, then you are relieved of the pressure of trying to keep everything the way it has been.  It takes some of the shock out of life.  We have experienced situations that otherwise would lead us to bewildering grief, disappointment and fear.

Remember this one thing:  You are a spirit, living in a body and have a soul, which is your intellect.

God Is Doing "A New Thing"

Please don't allow this title to mislead you. God isn't changing His Word, but the way He does things will change.  His Word will never change.  Our Creator knows that it is sometimes difficult for us to accept the changes He is making in our lives.  He knows that we often expect things to remain the same, and that we get used to Him working in a  certain way.  So He gave us some encouragement in His Constitution in the book of Isaiah.  “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old.  Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it?  I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."  To "see" refers to observing.  Sometimes, we don't recognize what is happening to us, around us and in us.  The Lord God says "Open your eyes and study  your environment."  The question is before you.  What do you perceive?

Do you perceive the new things that the Lord God is doing in your life?  Stay in touch with Him through prayer and reading His Word so you won't become overwhelmed by change in your life.  Stay close to Him, because His character doesn't change.  King David, the poet and warrior, stated:  "Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea"  Now how could he state that?  Because he trusted in God's Word as his "strong tower"...Read:  "For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from my enemy"....and his "rock".  Read:  "The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold".  The question is, Is the Lord God your constant?  Do you know your "Constant"?  You must rely on the unchangeable King in the midst of change to keep yourself stable in times of transition and upheaval.  Again, seek to understand and interpret the changes in your life so that they don't shake you.  Instead, use them to move forward in the Lord God's purpose for your life.  Follow these vital principles:  1)  Nothing is permanent except the Lord God and His promises.  2)  God's character and nature are unchanging.  3) God promises us that nothing on earth is permanent.  4)  God uses change to advance His purpose and the kingdom in our lives.

Remember, The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.

The Paradox That Was Promised

I always have stated to others, that the only thing that is constant is change.  I truly believe that, because change has never disappointed me.  The only two permanent realities in our lives are the Lord God and His promises; because He will never go back on His Word.  Yet one of God's own unchanging promises assures us that nothing on earth is  permanent!  One reason for this is God's creative nature.  If you are a creative individual, you are always coming up with new things.  That is the nature of the Lord God.  He is continually refining what He has created, as well as "doing a new thing".  Read what God said to the children of Israel:  "Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it?  I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."  There are some people who like to think they have God figured out.  They believe that because God doesn't change, He won't do anything differently than what they've already seen Him do.  When He brings or allows change in their lives in order to further His purpose for them, they don't know how to react to it.  The change unsettles them because they didn't expect it.  The Lord God Himself doesn't change.  His methods may change, because He's always working in our lives; and His work involves transformation.  Be assured that the Lord God is going to allow something in your life to change.  If you read in God's Constitution, you won't find any account of God performing two miracles in exactly the same way.

People often try to make doctrines out of methods God has used in the past instead of realizing that it is His nature rather than His specific acts, that are permanent.  The results of these acts may be permanent, but His actions will vary.  The question is, why?  Because God is too creative to repeat Himself.  His creative nature promotes change.  Unless we understand this, we may constantly struggle against the changes He want to promote in our lives.  These changes are intended to assist us to grow and to fulfill the reasons for our existence.

Remember, "To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven".  There is a purpose for your life, and that requires a change to be made.
