There is Power in Unity

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, Running down on the beard, The beard of Aaron, Running down on the edge of his garments....For there the Lord commanded the blessing-- Life forevermore.

The level of stress, strife, anger and cynicism among believers seems to have grown greatly in recent years.  It lingers, just under the surface.  When anyone or anything scratches that surface, people pounce.  They jump to conclusions, call people liars and thieves. They are so easily offended! They dive into vicious arguments and seem to "go for the jugular."   Where is compassion?  What happened to giving people the benefit of the doubt?  What happened to dwelling in unity?  These attacks are usually aimed at fellow believers, not "sinners".

What that shows is they are spiritually malnourished--completely lacking in the nutrition of God's Word.  If they were full of the Word, they would be filled with the fruits of the Spirit:   But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, self-control.

Remember that one of the "seven things God hates" is "sowing discord among the brethren"!  It is a very rare scripture that talks about what God hates.  We wouldn't want to do anything God hates!

This could be many pages long, if I put all the scriptures that talk about unity among believers.  If you find yourself arguing, angry, jumping to conclusions and blaming fellow believers; if you've got a hair-trigger temper, get into the Word and see what God says about the subject.  Transform your mind...your attitude..your emotions..and bring peace and unity wherever you go.

Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous

We've got to change, the lost are watching.

Your Personal Authority is Authentic

Always walk with your head up, regardless of how you feel.  When you are working at something you were born to do, people will naturally become aware of you.  Interestingly, they may even be afraid of you.  That often happens because if you know what you are doing, you intimidate people who are less sure of themselves just by being in the same room with them.  This happens to me quite often.  I always walk with my head up and when I speak to others, I look them square in the eyes.  You have to continue faithfully pursuing your authority, regardless of any negative reactions others may have toward you.  When mediocre and excellence are in the same space, the mediocre will try in some way to bring the excellent down to their level.  Know this and stay strong.

My wife Arlene informs me that my presence intimidates people just by standing and not even saying anything.  This is because I know who I am in God's Kingdom.  I am not a servant, but a child of the Kingdom of God.  Our faith in Him makes us His sons and daughters. Know who you are and WHOSE you are and walk in that authority.   For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

Know the Purpose of Praise and Worship

"Where purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable." ~~Dr. Myles Munroe

First, praise and worship is NOT Christian entertainment.

Second, praise and worship is NOT what we do until everyone shows up to hear the pastor's sermon.

Now that we have cleared that up, imagine people coming into the church with all the residue of the world on them.  Their minds are cluttered and filled with all that is the world.  It's dirty, grimy and gritty.  It is sad and stressful and lustful.  It's depressing and distracting.  Are you prepared to enter into God's Presence? Praise is soap and water for your soul.  Praise cleanses our minds and spirits and prepares our hearts for worship.  It washes away the dirt and grime of the world.  Praise prepares a place for God to occupy.  Purity and sincerity of heart welcomes God.  In His presence, worship comes.  Only in His presence can we truly and wholeheartedly worship God.  Praise is the outer courts.  Worship is the Holy of Holies.  In His Presence, there is joy, peace and power!

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.  Do not cast me away from Your presence,  and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit.
~~
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart, Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.

Praise and worship is vital.  We should not serve up the world's leftovers.  A rhema word comes in songs also.  Keep if fresh and sincere, from the heart.  Sing a new song.  God gives us songs and divine revelations of how to praise Him. And praise doesn't just happen in the church building.  There is no better way to start your day than with a song of praise, welcoming His Presence into your day!

Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!
Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Know that the Lord, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the Lord is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.

Your Personal Authority is Valuable

You have a gift to contribute to this world.  And yet, even when you are born to do something, you may start to think that other individuals are rushing ahead of you in this life and that you aren't keeping up in the way you should.  Even now, you  may be feeling that others are leaving you behind in success or accomplishments.  Don't worry!  Take the time to pace yourself according to your authority, and you will arrive at the finish line at just the right time.  Keep in mind, trying to use shortcuts to personal authority that doesn't reflect God's purpose and ways will cause you to be unauthorized and unauthentic. God won't put you where your character won't keep you! You can remain at peace and continue to pace yourself when you understand who you are and the value of your life and personal authority to your loving God and Creator.  Jesus the King made this statement:   The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

In the Kingdom, There is a Considerable Difference

What do I mean by that statement? I am speaking of standards in the Kingdom of God, versus the world system and the religious society.  Allow me to share with you information concerning "Christians" versus kingdom standards:  The Apostle Paul took what King Jesus stated and elaborated on it to the believers in the city of Corinth--one of the most wicked cities of that time. Sexual immorality was gross there. Corinth was a city of temples to various goddesses where the priestesses provided sex as part of the "worship" service to any man who brought the designated "offering".  If you observe our world today, you will see there's not much difference.    Many churches and pastors are caught up in some type of sexual scandal throughout the United States and other countries alike.

Allow me to share more history with you.  One temple was reputed to have had as many as a thousand priestesses.  Because this was part of their religious custom, priestesses were respected by the general public.  The devil wanted moral  disobedience to become a natural thing to the public.  But keep this in mind:  God's Word will never change to suit this society.  This society has to change their way of thinking through the Word.  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Keep in mind, the believers at Corinth were abhorred by the Jews, Jewish believers carried over the same attitude of course.  But many of the non-Jewish people, and even some of the priestesses or former pagans had become converted and were in the church, but hadn't let go of the pagan customs and traditions.  This is still true today with many Christians.  They have new hearts but the same old mindset, because many believers today fail to read and seriously study God's Word with a passion for the Truth.  The King put it this way when he was speaking to His Father:  "Sanctify them by Your Truth.  Your Word is Truth".  Remember this, Kingdom Citizens who trust in the King's Word will always seek it for answers.

Being Calm in a Crisis

As I was reading and studying, I discovered that the words for crisis in Japanese and Chinese are the same as the word opportunity.  I found that to be strange, but true.  You wouldn't think that those two words have anything in common until you realize that the seeming defeat inherent in every crisis holds the keys to an unanticipated victory.

A citizen of the kingdom who is in good standing with the king is always calm and cool under pressure, because he has confidence in God's Word.  He is always thinking and meditating on God's Word and in God's Constitution.  He tells us not to worry concerning anything.  "Let your gentleness be known to all men.  The Lord is at hand."  Note this word gentleness identifies a person who manifests a calmness and fairness of spirit.  An individual who is gentle is willing to sacrifice his or her own personal rights to show consideration to others.  Now what does "at hand" mean?  He is always near.  Kingdom Citizens who trust in God's Word are always cool calm and collected because they believe God's Word is true.  Remember what His Word states: Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.  Now I want you to know, if you are worrying in the slightest, you aren't trusting.  Anxiety and trusting in the Word of God can't occupy the same space at the same time.  If you are to be strong in times of crisis, you are to meditate on the King's Word.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things.

Remember, your faith in the King is your greatest asset in the Kingdom.

Embracing A Season of Change

To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:

November 1st was a very windy day...a "blustery day".  I sat in my living room, watching the trees sway and listening to the wind whip and God spoke down in my spirit:  "Do you hear that wind blowing outside? It is the wind of change.... change is coming... quickly....even before November ends... for My name's sake, it is coming."  At that time, I thought it was a personal word and welcomed and embraced it!

Life had felt like a huge "log jam" for all of 2013 & 2014.  Have  you ever seen a log jam?  I grew up in a city that was built on lumbering.  It was on a river.  The lumber companies harvested forests and sent the logs downriver.  That was their main means of transporting the logs.  Workers were out on the river, using long poles to keep the logs flowing because a big log jam would stop the flow..nothing moved.  The water slowed and even dammed up if the jam was big enough.

Well, that's how life felt.  Nothing was moving; to the point of the water becoming stagnant!  As 2014 began, there was a trickle of movement, but nothing had broken free yet.  I was still waiting for prayers to be answered and situations changed.  When that word came on November 1st, things broke loose and things began to change.  Prayers I had prayed for more than a year were answered and things were suddenly changing and it's not over yet.  As the month progressed, I realized this word wasn't just for me.  We are seeing great changes.  Next year, by this time, I believe life will look very different for many believers.  It truly is a season of change that will carry on well into 2015.  A "changing of the guard", a widening divide between those who "do church" and those who "are the church". Lines will be drawn and made more clear.  More people will chose whether they will be accepted by the community or they will embrace God's Word as unchangeable.

The only things in life that are unchangeable are God, His Word and your purpose for being here.  Everything else seasonally changes. Embrace the changes.  Be enthusiastic and thankful for what is coming.  Be excited as it all unfolds in your life.. I am!

Do not resist change and the challenges it brings, or you may miss so much of what God has for you.  God brings change, but gives you the option of embracing or rejecting it.  Trust God and dive in!  Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Change brings bumps and jolts; but when it settles in, life will be better than it was.  See the beauty in change.  And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Where Are You in Terms of Greed?

Have you asked yourself, what is greed?  Well, allow me to assist you with the definition.  Greed is the mismanagement of resources for personal benefit, coupled with a disregard for the benefit of others. Greed is when you want more than you need at the expense of everybody else. Greed means "I know I need one pillow, but I want twenty".  Keep in mind, greedy people don't care who gets hurt.  They just go after whatever they want and don't concern themselves with other individuals.  They see  an opportunity to acquire more money, greater status or further pleasures.  They charge ahead in pursuit of their selfish goals, regardless of how many people they have to trample on in the process.  Now, the question is, do you know anyone personally who has those characteristics?

Now I want you to keep in mind that greed walks hand in hand with partners such as malice, deceit, theft, envy, evil thoughts, lewdness, adultery, slander, arrogance, murder and all kinds of folly.  Read what King Jesus has to say concerning that:   "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”

The reason all of these evil things travel together, is because all of them originated in the heart of disobedient and sinful man from the beginning.  In many ways, they represent aspects of greed.  Theft is greed for things that are perceived as valuable to the thief.  Envy and slander represent a greed for reputation.  Lewdness and adultery are forms of sexual greed.  Arrogance and murder amount to greed for power and vengeance.  Are you seeing the picture now?  Jesus made this statement:  “Hear Me, everyone, and understand: There is nothing that enters a man from outside which can defile him; but the things which come out of him, those are the things that defile a man.  If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear!”  Take an evaluation of your life every day, to see where you are according to God's Constitution.

Being Fearful In the Midst of Crisis

Is this statement a description of yourself in the time of chaos?  When you totally trust in King Jesus, there is no room for fear.  Just to remind you, fear and faith can't occupy the same space at the same time.  Either you have faith in His words or not.Just like fire and water can't occupy the same space at the same time, so it is with faith and fear. When you totally trust in your Creator and Source, you can repeat these words:  The Lord is on my side; I will not fear.  What can man do to me?  These are words of a man who was a King.  He was always in some kind of battle, but always trusted in the Lord and Creator.

Being fearful makes people respond in a knee-jerk fashion to a crisis, and they may set up a cycle of negative consequences, such as: abuse (physical, psychological and verbal), crime, domestic violence and substance abuse.  Think about it.  These reactions set people up for further crimes.  You probably have known someone with these reactions.

When you exhibit fear in your life, you show a lack of faith in God's work or a lack of knowledge in God's Word, and in some cases, both.  Crisis will always come, but to a man or woman that totally trusts in the King's Word, they have no fear.  He is a guidance to all citizens of the Kingdom.  Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path.  If you truly trust in someone, then you have confidence in what they say or do, regardless of what others may say.

Remember what God stated in His Constitution:  Every Word of God is pure.  He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.  Now that God the Father has sent His Son, our trust is to be put in Him.  We are to honor the Son.  that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father.  He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.  These are the Words of King Jesus.

Crisis

What does that word mean to you?  How bad does a situation have to be before you consider it a crisis?  What kind of crisis have you been through in your life?  And finally, what constitutes a crisis?

Before I found the Kingdom and embraced it, all that I had to depend on was a religion and some so-called friends.  But once I realized what the Kingdom of God was, my crisis mode became peace of mind.  Keep in mind, this was a process and a journey.  Once I accepted that Jesus was King and Lord, and all I had to do was listen and obey.  I gain confidence in His Word.  Jesus the King made this statement:  These things I have spoken to you that in Me you may have peace.  In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have over come the world.  It is very important that you put your total faith in King Jesus and His Words.  Why?  Because your faith is your greatest asset.  Once you put your total trust in Him and His Word, what you may call a crisis will be a stepping stone to greater things in your life.

When we fail to have faith in His Word, crisis produces some or all of the following emotional responses in us:  fear, trauma, depression, despair, frustration, anxiety, loneliness, worry and hopelessness.  Keep in mind that we can be consumed by any of the following states of mind:  a sense of abandonment, a sense of loss, a sense of death and an urgency for survival.  Need I say, many felt like that after my friend and brother, Dr. Munroe went suddenly to be with the Father.  But remember this, the King stated that He would never leave us.  "...I am with you even to the end of the age."  Even now, as I write these words of encouragement, this world is in crisis.  But you need not be in a crisis.  A crisis is a state of mind. Remember, keep your mind on Him.  You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You.  Because he trusts in You.  Remember, trust in the King's Word, not in a "religious Christian faith" (they are not the same).

Divorce is Not an Option

If you are to consider yourself in good standing with the King, you must drop the word divorce from your vocabulary.  When the Pharisees tried to trap King Jesus over the issue of divorce, their question reflected a stark reality in their society.  "...Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?"  Now, since the days of Moses, Jewish husbands had held the legal right to divorce his wife by simply stating his intention to do so, giving her a certificate of divorce, and sending  her on her way.  There isn't much difference in today's society.  We call it irreconcilable differences.  But keep in mind, the King's Word has not changed.  Once again, I remind you:  "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Words will by no means pass away."  Remember, God's Words stand forever.

Over the centuries, the practice grew to such proportions that by the time of Malachi, the last of the Old Testament prophets, it was quite out of control. Husbands were divorcing their wives for the smallest of provocations.  A wife could be sent away for sneezing while her husband was eating or for cooking a poor meal, or for walking into a room where he was sitting with other men, or for simply glancing at another man.  Think about it:  are you thinking of an excuse to divorce your wife--or your husband.  Think about this as well, God knows your thoughts and heart.  When it came to divorce, a wife was at the mercy of her husband, who could send her away at his slightest whim.

Remember what the King stated while He was here on earth concerning the good Samaritan, to the lawyer:  "...What is written in the law?  What is your reading of it?  So he answered and said, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength and with all your mind and your neighbor as yourself."  And He said to him, "You have answered rightly, do this and you will live".

In essence, live what you know in God's Word.  Make the Word of God your life; for in essence, it is your life.  Your body will go back to the dust, but your spirit will live forever.

A True Leader

There are many leaders in this world.  Are you in a leadership position?  Do you think of yourself as a true leader?  Take an evaluation of yourself.  Allow the Word of God be your foundation on the way you think and conduct yourself as a true leader.  Keep in mind, that leadership is the capacity to influence others through inspiration motivated by a  passion, generated by a vision, produced by a conviction and ignited by a purpose.

Jesus our King was and is that perfect example of a leader.  Jesus was determined to complete His purpose that His Father God had laid out for Him,  Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.   But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.  Now this is a true leader that loves us with passion.  He took up a body to experience all the pain and grief that we should have experienced; to bring us in right standing with Him once we accept Him and His message.

Do you remember how Jesus responded to the devil in the wilderness?  He did it by quoting God's principles and laws.  Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.  And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.  Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”  But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”   Once again King Jesus makes it plain; it is the Word that we must live by.  Food is for the body, but His Word is for the spirit man.  By the way, the King's Word is our real source of food.  Keep in mind, Jesus' response to all three temptations was to quote the Word of God; showing us His ambassadors and representatives the power of the Word of His Father.  You shall fear the Lord your God and serve Him and shall take oaths in His name".  True leaders speak the Word of God, for they know there is power in His Word.  Death and life are in the power of the tongue, an those who love it will eat its fruit".

Where Are You Now?

Jesus and Paul were on the same page, in essence, that marriage is permanent; therefore, marriage is only for those who can handle it.  Jesus' words about being able to live alone as a single person implies that this is a "gift".

But He said to them, "All cannot accept this saying, but only those to whom it has been given".  I must say, if it hadn't been for my loving wife, I wouldn't be the man and husband I am today.  I am living proof of the King's Word working to change your life to the individual you are to be.  Please note you do not have to remain unmarried in order to minister and preach the Kingdom.  Read what Jesus stated:  For there are eunuchs who were born thus from their mother's womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake.  He who is able to accept it, let him accept it".

But men, if you are married, never deprive your spouse of her necessary needs;  for it is love, affection, embracing and intimacy that is part of securing your marriage.  Now, having said that, marriage in God’s context means making choices when you do not feel like it.  True love is not a feeling, it is a choice, it is a choice and a decision.  Paul stated it this way in God's Constitution:  "Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband.  The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does.  And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.  Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of control".

This is why it is so important to keep reading and studying the Word of King Jesus.  Remember what Isaiah stated concerning the state of mind on Him.  You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You.  Because he trusts in You.

But Do You Trust Me?….

When bad things happen to God’s people, some doubt--some fear-- some question and--some get angry with God and pray angry prayers asking “WHY??”  It is in those times, if you get quiet, you will hear Him whisper, “but do you trust Me?”

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.  “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

It is easier for us to understand “bad things” happening to unbelievers and “sinners” because when they plant the seeds of sin, in time they reap that harvest.  But when crisis comes to believers and those we love and admire, we search for answers.

How could God allow “_____” to die?..... but do you trust Me?

God, how could you take my job away?....but do you trust Me?

God, how could you let them hurt me like that?...but do you trust Me?

If your five year old child was running toward a busy street to get his ball back, you would grab them by the arm, yank them back and probably scold them.  They would not understand why you kept them from getting their ball or why you are punishing them.  But that five year old trusts their parents and will listen, without truly understanding the danger they were in.

God is omnipotent (all powerful)

God is omniscient (all knowing)

God is omnipresent (everywhere)

Trust Him completely.  When pain, crisis, loss and sorrow come, trust that His ways are not your ways…He knows all, sees all and He loves you with a father’s love.

Sometimes we hear familiar scriptures so much that they lose their power to us.  Read these verses and let their meaning sink down into your spirit today:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

We don’t need to understand everything, we don’t need to figure everything out, we don’t need to have all the answers…we just need to trust Him.

Divorce Is This World’s Idea

Keep this in mind, you are not a whole single of mind and well prepared for marriage until you are prepared to never get a divorce.  The institution of marriage was created by the king, not by this world’s system.  Divorce was never in the scope of God.  Read what He said concerning divorce to the religious leaders:  …Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said “For this reason a man shall leave her father and mother and be joined to his wife and the two shall become one flesh.  So then, they are no longer two but one flesh.  Therefore what God has joined together let not man separate”.  If you have noticed, Jesus stated that they “become one flesh”.  Meaning that it is a process.  The husband is supposed to cultivate his wife and family.  That entails living by His Word and training your wife and children; especially through examples and by your behavior.

Now if you notice, the religious leaders wanted to justify their actions so they brought up the law of Moses.  But read what King Jesus stated to them:  He said to them, “Moses because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives but from the beginning it was not so”.  Once again Jesus refers back to the beginning.  He always referred back to the original principles of His Father God.  Read what He continues to state:   And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.

In the beginning, man and woman were righteous, walking in harmony with God and fellowshipping with God in the cool of the day.  They were at one with God their Creator.  Keep in mind, after the fall, there was no fellowship and oneness with God as formerly.  There was no covenant as yet; only God’s promise of a Deliverer to come who would bruise Satan’s head.  Also, there began to be a division between the man and woman and between their children.  All of this happened because of man’s disobedience to God’s Word.

The Two Worlds

Always remember, as long as believers are physically alive they exist in two different worlds.  One is material and still under the influence of the satanic world system.  The other is supernatural, eternal and the real world which is under the authority of the King.  Whether you intend it that way or whether you even are aware of it, you are influenced by the society, culture and traditions of this natural world in which you live as much as you are by the political, economic and educational systems.

The society in which we now live (which is of the natural world) thinks if  you are single and not involved with anyone, then you are not normal.  This thought has been planted in our subconscious minds from the time we were children.  Most of the time people aren’t consciously aware that is how they think.  In this society, pressure to get married or shack together is very much on the rise.  But don’t be influenced by this world system.  Seek God’s direction for your life.  You can do that through prayer and constantly reading and studying the Word.  Remember, singleness is the first state in which God made you, and marriage is for those who are able to carry it out in God’s context; and this is according to Jesus.  For there are eunuchs who were born thus from their mother’s womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He who is able to accept it, let him accept it.”

This world system and foundation is built upon lust and self-gratification.  The question is:  What is God’s context?  His plan and His context for marriage is most definitely permanence.  Not everyone is ready for marriage, according to Jesus.  The King made this statement?  …He said to them, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.  And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.”

Now can you handle that?

The Ingredients God Gives

The King's ingredient for a successful marriage and relationship must be adhered to.  There are many "believers" who believe in God's Word, but only like to read or hear First Corinthians thirteen.  It is called by many "the love chapter".  They like hearing "love never fails" and "love is" this or that.  Here is what you must know:  the greatest sinner in this world loves to hear that chapter read.

Now the word for love in that chapter is the same word used in the list of the fruits of the Spirit.  Read what God's Constitution states in Galatians:  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.  Against such there is no law.  That word is the Greek word agape.  Have you noticed the other fruits of the Spirit?  These are sure signs of citizens who are filled with the Spirit of God.  By the way, the word "agape" means divine love, God's kind of love.

Most men want what love says it can give, but they do not want the Spirit who brings it.  They are trying to get a finished product without the right ingredients. Remember, if you want God's love, you must have His Holy Spirit, and if you want God's Spirit, you must receive God's Son in full; the Lord Jesus the Christ.

Here is something else that I will share with you.  Unbelievers or sinners are not joined together by God.  God's ingredient that ensures a happy marriage, doesn't come without first accepting God's Son, Jesus the Christ as their Lord and Savior.  Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.  If you have noticed, it doesn't say that the love of God was shed abroad in our hearts by watching television or movies or by reading magazines.  That verse doesn't even say "The love of God comes into our hearts by reading or hearing the Word".  Faith comes by hearing the Word.  Remember God's love is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit.

Offended?  Get Over It!

Did that simple statement prick you just a little?  Did you suddenly feel the need to go on the defensive?  I used to be very easily offended.  My mother said that if anyone "looked at me wrong" I would get upset, hurt and angry.  I was "done" with them.  At that time, I didn't see anything wrong with that.  I was "sensitive".

One day, many years ago, I heard a great teaching by Joyce Meyer on the Spirit of Offense and how Satan uses it to bring division among believers.  That message changed my thinking and my transformation was sudden...I did a 180 degree turnaround.  The thought that my "sensitive" attitude could be a tool in Satan's hand to bring division in the church was repulsive to me!  My mind had to be radically transformed!

Offense--that sensitivity in you--is rooted in pride and old emotional scars.  Most of the time, offense comes from something a person says, does, DOESN'T say, DOESN'T do, or maybe just a "look".  It's not about them, it's about YOU.  Most of the time the offending person doesn't even realize what they have done.  They "meant no harm".  That's because it really has nothing to do with them.  It has to do with what is going on in the mind of the offended person.  Often it is nothing more than a personality/communication conflict.  We are all different and communicate differently.  Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

Offense is a spiritual seed.  If it is not immediately plucked out of your mind and heart, if will grow into a root of bitterness and resentment.  Offense is a negative emotion that feels terrible.  It brings stress, pain, anger, raised blood pressure and in time will manifest in poor health.  So again I say, Get over it...grow up!

Being easily offended is carnal and immature. When you get offended, you show people your emotional scars and spiritual immaturity.  And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able;  for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?

You can change your mind.  Determine in your heart that you WON'T be offended, no matter what anyone says.  You will see things from a different perspective. You will live in peace with your brothers & sisters.  You will give them a measure of grace.  You will grow in wisdom and understanding.  When you truly know and believe in yourself, what others say or do will not hurt you.

And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.

Don't do it for others--although you will be easier to live and work with.  Do it for peace in your spirit, mind and for your health.   Change your mind, change your world!

God's Word is Prominent
Are you aware that by studying the King's Constitution (Bible) that it will change your way of thinking?  The process of a renewed mind is through the Word.  And be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which is created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

Remember, the new man is Jesus the Christ.  And Jesus is the Word made flesh.  And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.  Keep in mind, that Adam knew God's Word through direct, face-to-face contact.  He understood the principles under which the Kingdom of God operated and knew exactly what God expected of him.  It is only in the context of knowledge and obedience to the Word of God that any relationship can maximize its potential.  Now the question is:  How well do you know God's Word?  How much time do you spend reading, studying and meditating on it?  Just as a potential spouse should find you in Eden, he or she should also find you a diligent student of the Word of God.  The knowledge of the Word of God is essential to any truly successful and effective marriage.

Now men, you are the cultivator of your wife and family.  But if you don't have the knowledge of the Word, how can you cultivate them?  You are responsible for leading them, through this world system, through the knowledge of the truth.  What is truth?  Jesus made it very plain when He was speaking to His Father God.  Sanctify time by Your truth.  Your Word is truth.  God's Word should always be prominent in your life.  Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Words will by no means pass away.  His Word should be your life, because it is your life. It is what gave you life.  When you stand strong on God's Word, you have no fear of what the enemy will or may throw at you.

We Are to Protect

Before I embraced the Kingdom concept, I was unaware of my true purpose for being on this planet called earth.  All that I did was attend church and its meetings.  Whether they were youth meetings or board meetings, it became boring fast.  I felt that there was more to my life than that.  During this time in my life, I felt unfulfilled.  It was only when I relocated from my northern environment to a quiet city located in the south that I began to hear the voice of the King, my Lord.  It was my solitude with His Word that caused me to pay attention to His will and purpose for my life even though it took nearly seven years for me to get a clue of what was going on in my life or I should say, what the King was showing me.  What I am saying in essence to every man is this:  A man should be complete in the King's Word before he considers getting married.  God gave Adam the responsibility to protect and guard his environment and everything that was in it.  Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.  That meant that everything that was in Adam's presence was safe.  Now, can that be said about you?  Do you feel safe in obeying the Word of God?  Are people safe in your presence?  Do you safeguard their confidence, their trust, and their dignity no matter what?  If you cannot be trusted to protect and honor the worth and personhood of another person, then my advice to you is this; you are not ready for marriage.  Never allow your feelings to cloud your judgement.  Use the Word of God as your point of reference.
