If you have a photo of yourself fifteen years ago, hold it up and then look in the mirror. Time produces change, and everything that exists and functions within time inevitably experiences change. King Solomon in one of his books in God's Constitution said: "To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under the heaven". These words capture the spirit of change that is inherent in time: everything is "seasonal" or functions in a limited time frame. They also communicate the following principles, which are the fountain of what I believe:
A. Everything that is created--everything that is below the invisible, eternal realm of God--exists in time
B. Everything that exists in time has a purpose, and each of these purposes has a season for its fulfillment.
C. God's purpose and activities within time are designed for seasons, which in turn require change.
Now because we live in a world governed by time, we live according to seasons, and our lives are subject to change. Change is the essence of our experience of life. I truly believe that if many individuals would have taken the time to evaluate their lives, with the word "change", there would be less self-imposed destruction through suicide, alcoholism, drugs, pornography and other means of escape from the difficulties of this life. You see, what I have realized is this, my faith is my greatest asset in the kingdom, like the woman who had the issue of blood for twelve years. But Jesus turned around, and when He had saw her He said, "Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well". And the woman was made well from that hour.
If you know that everything in life is only for a season, then you are relieved of the pressure of trying to keep everything the way it has been. It takes some of the shock out of life. We have experienced situations that otherwise would lead us to bewildering grief, disappointment and fear.
Remember this one thing: You are a spirit, living in a body and have a soul, which is your intellect.
