We would never want to admit that we "bow our knee and serve" Satan. We may not be living according to God's Word, we may not be pursuing God's purpose for our life, our life may not be a testimony of the power of God; but we would never serve Satan....right?
Bob Dylan got one thing right when he wrote a song, "Serve Somebody". You are going to serve somebody:
But you're gonna have
to serve somebody,
You're gonna have to serve somebody,
It may be the devil
or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have
to serve somebody.
No decision IS a decision. Your indecision and procrastination IS a decision. Every day you put off submitting to God and His purpose for your life you are bowing to Satan. When you refuse to submit your will to God's Will, you are bowing to Satan. Every day you continue in disobedience to God's Word, you are serving Satan. You'd never join a coven, buy a Satanic Bible and become a Satan worshiper! But you are serving "someone". If you are saying "no" to God, you are saying "yes" to Satan. As long as you value "self" more than you value God's presence, you are submitting to Satan and all he tempts you with in his world. "...in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others." Ephesians 2:2-3
God gives us free will. Freedom to choose who we will serve. But we are serving someone. Everyday we bow down. Who will you serve?
"And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15
