We as citizens of the Kingdom of God should always have a higher standard than those who are religious or those who have surrendered their lives to the bill of sale that the devil has sold them.
Now what do I mean by a standard? A standard means something used as a means of measuring or judging a person or thing. A standard applies to any rule or model generally accepted as a basis of comparison in judging quality, value, quantity, etc.
When the first man Adam disobeyed God, God's standard in man's life began to fall. Every since then man's character has been in question. It was not until Christ came that our standard of living was restored to its rightful place. Keep in mind, our overall purpose as a whole is to demonstrate to others how to live and glorify God. By the way, I'm not speaking of a religion, but of being a kingdom citizen.
If you want to know more of how to please God, Jesus made it perfectly clear....
Matthew 6:33 ...seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you. Keep in mind, Jesus said "all things", not just some, but "all things".
We as kingdom citizens should never concern ourselves with things, for He will give us peace in these things. Understand this... by seeking to know Christ, He will give you peace and understanding. By the way, did I forget to mention that He will grant you the desires of your heart!
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Our standard of living should be such that others want to be like us in some form or another. Keep in mind, Jesus the Christ was the pure version of the standard of His Father. Without clear standards, you fail to exhibit to the world a picture of God, whom you represent.
Our lifestyle should always make a positive and productive impression to and on others. Keep in mind that we are a peculiar people. He didn't say that He wanted a strange people. We are a chosen people, a kingdom of priests.
I Peter 2:9 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are a kingdom of priests, God's holy nation, His very own possession. This is so you can show others the goodness of God; for He called you out of the darkness into His wonderful light.
You see, we have to possess a higher standard of living. This comes through seeking the Kingdom and His righteousness first. First things first!
