In our physical bodies, thirst and dehydration are often misinterpreted as hunger. Our bodies crave water, but we grab junk food. The empty calories harm our bodies and in a short time we are more hungry than before we ate and the desire for water has grown. A cycle that can only be stopped if we give our body what it truly needs... re-hydration with water.
The same is true with our soul. There is a hunger deep within us for God, our creator. You are His most beloved creation. He sent His son, Jesus, to die for your sins. He desires a relationship with you as much as you hunger for Him. You just misinterpret the signs. You try to fill the hunger with alcohol, promiscuous sex, drugs and an exciting nightlife. It tingles the senses but in the light of day, just feels hollow and sad. The hunger wakes up with you in the morning and as soon as possible, you reach for more "junk food for the soul". A viscous cycle that will ultimately destroy you just as a life of junk food will destroy the body.
God is water for your soul. It is what that gnawing hunger truly craves. Drink from His well and you will never thirst again. When you stop eating junk food and eat a healthy diet and drink plenty of water, before long, junk food will look unappetizing... even nauseating. The same is true of the party lifestyle. It is a hollow empty life that temporarily tingles the senses. Seek Him and all He has for your life... it will truly satisfy your soul and there you will find peace and purpose. Be blessed! Arlene
