God created us, so he knows us inside and out... He knows what we are... and what we are not. All He wants from us is obedience. From the very beginning that is evident. He put Adam and Eve in a paradise and told them not to eat from that one tree. It's not about the tree, it's about obedience to Him.
He knew us so well, He kept it simple. He gave us an "instruction manual". This is what I want you to do.... and what I don't want to you to do. This is how you can walk in my blessings and this is what will happen if you disobey. And then He sent His son to die for all our disobedience (sins) so that we could freely approach Him.
Then, to make it even easier for us to obey Him, He put His Holy Spirit in us to guide us and give us direction.... our GPS to navigate through this life and stay on track! All we have to do is turn it on! Be still and listen.
God wants our obedience, but He gave us freewill because He wants us to CHOOSE to obey Him. He made it simple for us. He gives us a test AND the answer key AND a tutor to guide us through the test. We make it difficult when we refuse to open the answer key and we listen to the yelling of our flesh instead of the still small voice of the tutor.
Simplify your relationship with God. Use the tools He has given you. He has given us every advantage. He has made it simple. We have complicated the process.
