When we think of believers being deceived, we usually think of something involving lust and obvious sins--sex, affairs, gambling, and other sins of the flesh. What I am seeing is something very different. It is a twisting of knowledge. It seems good, but doesn't line up with God's Truth. Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 2 Timothy 3:5 Knowledge is information, it is power but it is vital that we know how to handle that information. With knowledge, it may be a fact, but not Truth!
We, as Kingdom citizens, must know how to handle knowledge, just as a snake handler knows how to handle a snake without getting bitten. We MUST be filled with God's Word AND the Holy Spirit or we will be deceived. Every bit of knowledge you put in your mind must be held up against the ruler of God's Truth. If it doesn't measure up, it gets filed under "just information" and doesn't become part of your life. Become tuned to the Holy Spirit and learn to listen with your spiritual ears. There is coming a day when you will be tested. Will you know God's Truth or will you be deceived and fall away? Start preparing today!
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. And their message will spread like cancer. 2 Timothy 2:15-17
The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12
That scripture drives me to get God's Word down firmly in my spirit to the point of it being such a part of me that I will never believe a lie. That is the only immunity against deception. I will keep my focus on the Truth of the Gospel of the Kingdom. That is my standard. That is my focus. Every bit of information that comes to me will be held up to that standard. If it doesn't measure up, it is nothing more than information. Stay strong Kingdom citizens. Stay focused. Never lose focus! If you allow yourself to be distracted and lose your focus on the Kingdom, you are susceptible to deception.
Kingdom focused!
