Your Eternal Future Hinges on His Promise

The Lord God’s time isn’t measured by this world’s calculation of time. He doesn’t measure time as mankind measures time. He doesn’t “live inside of time” as we do. The Lord God lives in eternity. A thousand years is as one day to the Lord, and one day as a thousand years!
Now, there was a time when the ambassador Peter had to remind the saints that the Lord God always keeps His Word. This is my second letter to you, dear friends, and in both of them I have tried to stimulate your wholesome thinking and refresh your memory. I want you to remember what the holy prophets said long ago and what our Lord and Savior commanded through your apostles.
Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. They will say, “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.”
They deliberately forget that God made the heavens long ago by the word of his command, and He brought the earth out from the water and surrounded it with water. Then He used the water to destroy the ancient world with a mighty flood. And by the same word, the present heavens and earth have been stored up for fire. They are being kept for the day of judgment, when ungodly people will be destroyed.
But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn’t really being slow about His promise, as some people think. No, He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed but wants everyone to repent.
It is vital that we constantly stay focused on His Word. Did you notice when Peter stated, “people deliberately forget the Lord’s promise of return”? They will say, “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.”
They deliberately forget that God made the heavens long ago by the word of His command, and He brought the earth out from the water and surrounded it with water. By the way, ambassador Peter was quoting the writer Psalm: Lord, through all the generations you have been our home! Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, you are God. You turn people back to dust, saying, “Return to dust, you mortals!” For you, a thousand years are as a passing day, as brief as a few night hours. Notice that the writers always refer to the beginning of creation. Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, you are God. Always remember, the Lord God lives in eternity. In other words, He is eternal.
Those of us who have received and accepted His message of the Kingdom, have been promised eternal life, forever to reign with Him. Let the words in His Constitution live within you. This is why it is so important that you allow the Governor—the Holy Spirit—to lead and guide you! His Word is Truth. Ambassador John echoed this same word: So, you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father. And in this fellowship, we enjoy the eternal life He promised us.
I am writing these things to warn you about those who want to lead you astray. But you have received the Holy Spirit, and He lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what He teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as He has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.
Remember, His promises come with a condition. What is that condition? Love and obey the Lord God’s Son. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. NKJV Your eternal future depends on the King’s statement: “If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it isn’t looking for Him and doesn’t recognize Him. But you know Him, because He lives with you now and later will be in you. In essence, you need the Holy Spirit in order to live in eternity with Him as He promised. In fact, you must have the Governor (Holy Spirit) in and with you in order for you to become a Kingdom citizen. There is nothing you can do in your own strength to accomplish that. Your own strength and efforts will get you membership in a religious organization or church.
Those of us who are Kingdom citizens, don’t use religion to speak to the Lord God. We know that the Lord Jesus is our mediator with the Father God. Ambassador Paul made that very plain: There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. In other words, you don’t need religious customs and traditions to communicate with the Father God. All you need is to accept King Jesus. God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him.
“There is no judgment against anyone who believes in Him. But anyone who does not believe in Him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son.”
Keep in mind that your faith in Him is the Key to the Kingdom of God. And that your faith in His Word is your greatest asset in the Kingdom.
2 Peter 3:1-9 Psalm 90:1-4 John 2:24-27 John 3:16 1 Timothy 2:5 John 2:17-18
