Here is something that may surprise many of you religious individuals. Most of us have been taught to hope for heaven in the sweet "by and by". The only problem with that statement is that heaven is not our home. We didn't come from heaven. It was Satan who fell from heaven, not man. We were made from the earth. God created us from the dust of the ground, and breathed His life into us, and set us up as rulers over the physical realm. Every since our fall, he has been working His plan to restore us to the place from which we fell.
Focus Point: Since we didn't fall from heaven , it is not God's ultimate goal for us.
Constitutional Scripture: Genesis 1:26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth".
Focus Point: This is sad for me to say, but one of the Lord's biggest challenges in getting His message of the Kingdom to the world is the fact that we who are His representatives on this earth are so slow to understand the message. At one point I could have said this about myself.
Focus Point: Dreams of golden streets and heavenly bliss have blinded us to our responsibilities on this earth. We love to speak about heaven because, for us, it represents our highest goal and because it helps us to get our minds off of our troubles here in the earth realm. When we are busy singing, "I'll fly away O glory", and "When we get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be", it is easy to forget, for a little while, our automobile trouble, our troubles with our children, our overdue bills, and the new rent increase.
Focus Point: Remember, God's desire is to restore us to our former and rightful place, which means returning us to the position of authority and dominion over the fish, birds, cattle, plants and all the rest of the earthly realm. As sinners we were slaves of Satan in the kingdom of darkness, but as believers cleansed by the blood of Jesus, we are sons and daughters of God in the kingdom of light.
Constitutional Scripture: Galatians 3:6 For you are sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
Focus Point: Keep this in mind: All along, the Lord has desired not servants but true sons and daughters who would be citizens of His heavenly realm and live in a continual relationship with Him.
