If you want to be successful in your marriage, gain knowledge. Knowledge is the answer. A successful marriage has little to do with love. Love is not a guarantee in any marriage. Love is very important for happiness in a marriage, but by itself it cannot make a marriage work. The only thing that makes a marriage work is knowledge. In fact, the only thing that makes anything work is knowledge. Success depends on how much we know about something, not how we may feel about it.
I find that many individuals love and feel good about each other, but many don't know how to communicate effectively or relate well to each other. There is a huge difference between recognizing feelings and knowing how to deal with conflict. There are some people who define intelligence as the ability to solve complex problems. But more accurately, intelligence is the ability to face reality and to deal with problems while maintaining one's sanity. Dealing with problems is not necessarily the same as solving them. Believe it or not, some problems can't be solved. An intelligent individual is someone who can maintain his or her stability and sense of self-worth under any circumstances, evaluate the situation, deal effectively with the problems and then come out intact on the other side.
There is a great need today for intelligence and knowledge regarding marriage to offset the widespread ignorance on the subject. Even the so-called Christian church, which should be the voice of authority on the subject of marriage, is suffering because many believers, including many leaders, are Constitutionally (Biblically) illiterate where marriage and the family are concerned. In today's world, with all the old values are being challenged right and left--both within and without the Church--many individuals are definitely confused. They are uncertain of what to believe anymore. The root cause of this confusion is a lack of knowledge. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.
We are missing or lack one crucial element. The fear of the Lord God in our society. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction. We need to go back to the future. Back to the old landmark.
