What is Your Motivation for Moving Forward?
Once you have acknowledged the mysteries of this life, and have accepted the facts of your own limitations, what is left? How do you live successfully and effectively under such conditions? That is the question! Through faith and trusting in His written Word--God's Constitution, the Bible. King David was so confident in the Lord's Word, that he stated this:
Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
It is truly my conviction that all men were meant to live by faith in God's Word. There is no other foundation that will support us through the challenges of life. It is belief in the unseen and hope for the unknown that truly energizes the human spirit. Our Creator, Source and King of the universe is looking for strong faith on the part of His citizens that He created in His own image. Whenever He finds it, He strengthens it even more. For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. In this you have done foolishly; therefore from now on you shall have wars. At one point, King Jesus asked this question: I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?
God is looking for strong faith. I find it very interesting to note that He didn't expect to find power, authority, wealth, influence, religion, politics, commerce, education or traditions, but FAITH. That is why ambassador Paul made this statement: For we walk by faith, not by sight. Perhaps He sees faith as the most important component on earth. This is how Kingdom citizens should live their lives, not as religious individuals.
Please note: Your faith is only as strong as the tests it survives. How strong are you? Strength must be tested before it can be considered reliable. That is just common sense in my estimation! You are only as strong as what you can lift. So never brag about your own strength, unless you have tested it first.
I have seen many religious individuals that can "talk the talk" but can't "walk the walk". When around other church members, they praise, worship, they testify to how good He is and how much the Lord has blessed them; but their faith in His written Word has never been tested. It is easy to say "God is good" when things are going well in your life. But what about the time when death, sickness, financial devastation or other tragedy comes knocking at your door? Remember what happened to Job? Regardless of what went on during the chaos in his life, he trusted in the Lord God's Word. We must do the same. When my brother-in-law and his wife lost their 16 year old daughter in a car accident, their complete faith and trust in God and His Word was their greatest testimony and witness to all the friends, co-workers and high school students they met following that tragedy. Their faith was definitely their greatest asset.
There is no exception. We must develop total trust and faith in God's Word. You will not obey His Word unless you have faith in His Word. Take a moment to think: if your faith was greatly tested today, how strong would it be?
