The Principles and Benefits of Purpose Pt 6
Purpose Creates Joy
When its all said and done purpose creates joy. In its occasion, it is the spontaneous affirmations that both precede and follow the successful completion of a desired end.
In the New Testament of the Constitution it shows that life illuminated by purpose can erupt into joy even in the worst of circumstances. Remember when Paul and Silas had been beaten and thrown into jail for healing "a slave girl who had a spirit by which she predicted the future"? Let me share the incident with you:
Constitutional scripture Acts 16:16-18 Once when we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit by which she predicted the future. she earned a great deal of money for her owners by fortune-telling. 17) This girl followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, "These men are the servants of the most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved" 18) She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so troubled that he turned around and said to the spirit, "In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!" and it came out right away.
Her angry owners, seeing the end of their fortune that the girl had brought for them, seized Paul and Silas and charged them with creating an uproar in the city. They did this by promoting customs that was unlawful for Romans to follow. Now, with their backs bleeding and their feet secured in stocks, Paul and Silas were imprisoned in an inner cell.
"It was about midnight when Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them." You can read this in the Constitution of Acts 16:25 As their thoughts turned to the One whose call on their lives had gotten them into this mess, the joy of knowing and serving the Lord overshadowed their desperate need of their physical situation. It was the sufficiency of their position within the will of the Lord that bubbled up within them and burst forth in a song. Nothing, not even that filthy Roman jail cell, could remove the satisfaction of living within the God-ordained purpose for their lives.
This joy in the midst of their situation, in which most of us would call hell, is the hallmark of those who have truly found God's purpose for their lives and have committed themselves to cooperating with it. They have learned the God of all creation will move in any situation if necessary to permit them to accomplish everything that He has established for them. Keep in mind, that this assurance produces a satisfaction that cannot be stolen. Remember, purpose produces a joy in those who are wholeheartedly committed to the way of the Lord.
