The Kingdom Concept of Lord
Constitutional Scripture: Psalm 47:7-9 For God is the King of all the earth; Sing praises with understanding. God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne. The princes of the people have gathered together, The people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to God; He is greatly exalted.
Focus Point: It is very important that we learn the concept of lord is one of the fundamental principles of a kingdom. It is this quality of lordship that distinguishes a king from a president, a prime minister, a mayor and a governor. Lordship makes a king unique.
Focus Point: Remember, that all kings are automatically lords. a king relates to dominion, while a lord relates to a domain. Remember what I mentioned several times before. The word dominion refers to a king's authority, his power; the word domain refers to the territory over which his authority extends. A king exercises his authority (dominion) over a specific geographical area (domain) and within that area his authority is absolute.
Focus Point: Keep in mind, kingship has to do with authority, and lordship has to do with ownership. All kings are lords, but not all lords are kings. All true kings must have and own territory. This is the kingdom lordship principle. Now as lord, a king literally and legally owns everything, then he can give anything to anyone at any time according to his own sovereign choice.
Focus Point: Now this is because a king's dominion is so closely tied to his territory, his wealth is measured by the size and richness of his domain. The larger and richer their domain, the greater their reputation and glory.
Questions to Ponder:
1. From your understanding of kingship thus far, why do you think that lordship is such an important aspect of being king? How does lordship make a king unique?
2. What does kingship have to do with dominion and authority? What is God's dominion and authority? What is our dominion and authority?
3. What does lordship have to do with domain and ownership? What is God's domain and ownership? What is our domain and ownership?
4. What does this mean in terms of the life of citizens of the kingdom today? "If the king owns everything", then no one in the kingdom owns anything? How does this principle work in your life?
5. What does this mean in terms of the life of the citizens of the kingdom today? "If the king owns everything" can he give anything to anyone at any time according to his own sovereign?
Fact:
A. "A king personally owns everything in his domain. There is no private ownership in a kingdom. Everything belongs to the king."
B. "The use of anything in a kingdom is a privilege. If the king owns everything, then anything that we use is not by right but by privilege granted by the king."
A final question:
Now, looking at the two principles of lordship above, what can you say about your relationship to your King and His relationship with you?
