The Government of Man Vs the Kingdom of God Pt 1
Before the Lord Jesus left this earth to be with His Father, He made this profound statement: “If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.
He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it isn’t looking for Him and doesn’t recognize Him. But you know Him, because He lives with you now and later will be in you. No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you.” Notice the very first statement He made: “If you love Me…” Now, I will make this bold statement: Most national and international problems in this world are the result of either a government or religion. That includes global hunger, wars, terrorism, and the color and culture issues—that most refer to as “race”. Keep in mind, there is only one race. Religion and government are also responsible for segregation, nuclear tensions and economic uncertainty. Throughout history, mankind’s greatest challenge has been to learn how to live in peace and harmony with his neighbors and society, with all it’s different cultures.
Our Governor, the Holy Spirit, gives us that peace, even in the midst of chaos. When you trust in Him and His Word, meaning His Son, He will keep your mind in perfect peace. Isaiah, His representative, made that perfectly clear: You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because He trusts in You. NKJV Those words were in a song of salvation. Having said that, whether it is the continent of Europe, Africa, North or South America, war and chaos have been mankind’s history. Even now as I write this article, there are several wars going on.
Keep in mind, in these social and cultural expressions of humanity, the only thing that has evolved is some kind of authority structure, a form of leadership or government, a mechanism to establish and maintain social order. It was the same when the King was here on earth, but on a larger scale. It was the religious leaders that were always putting Him to the test. Some Pharisees and teachers of religious law now arrived from Jerusalem to see Jesus. They asked him, “Why do your disciples disobey our age-old tradition? For they ignore our tradition of ceremonial hand washing before they eat.”
Jesus replied, “And why do you, by your traditions, violate the direct commandments of God? For instance, God says, ‘Honor your father and mother, and ‘Anyone who speaks disrespectfully of father or mother must be put to death. But you say it is all right for people to say to their parents, ‘Sorry, I can’t help you. For I have vowed to give to God what I would have given to you.’ In this way, you say they don’t need to honor their parents. And so you cancel the word of God for the sake of your own tradition. You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you, for he wrote, ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.’”
Then Jesus called to the crowd to come and hear. “Listen, “He said, “and try to understand. It’s not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth.”
Remember, the need for government and order is inherent in the human spirit and is a manifestation of a divine mandate given to mankind by the Lord God, our Creator. Man was created to be a governor, ruler and manager. Therefore, it is in his nature to seek some authority mechanism that will bring order to his private and social world. Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.” So God created human beings in His own image. In the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.
Keep in mind, this was all before Adam relinquished his authority through disobedience and sin. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day” and the darkness “night.” And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day. Now mankind is trying to regain it without submitting his life to the King. This expression of government was a result of a desire to bring order to chaos and productivity to emptiness without God.
Yes, remember, the Lord God is a God of order. Here we see that the impact of an invisible and supernatural government was necessary because of disorder and chaos. Keep in mind, the purpose for government is to manage and maintain a productive order within ourselves and our society.
