Sons or Servants
King Jesus made this statement: And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
The Lord God set the tone when He made this statement: Then He said, “Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, make Myself known to him in a vision; I speak to him in a dream. Not so with My servant Moses; He is faithful in all My house. Here the Lord God refers to Moses as His servant. Take a minute to be encouraged. Read what the ambassador of the Kingdom stated:
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
A closer look at God's original plan will reveal how great a divide exists between religion and relationship. He originally intended to extend His heavenly Kingdom culture to earth through mankind. In this plan, the Lord God's purpose was to establish a family of sons, not a household of servants. Just as God's Constitution shows us that men are Christ's Bride, so too, women are God's son. Is that confusing? It shouldn't be. Focus on the first verse in the previous scripture: For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. Notice the word "spirit. Many of us should stop believing Hollywood versions of spirit and read and study the Word of the living God.
In God's Constitution, it states that we are sons and members of the family. Servants are not. This all comes through adoption, thanks to Jesus the Christ. But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. From the beginning, the Lord God wanted offspring who would relate to Him in love, not slaves or "hired hands" who would obey Him out of obligation. Servants may relate to their master on a superficial level, but no intimacy or sense of family exists. Sons on the other hand, are part of the family. They are heirs who will inherit everything that belongs to their father.
Questions to ponder:
1. Reflect upon the original purpose and plan the Lord God had for mankind. How has mankind lived opposite to their purpose? And how has the history of man demonstrated the following:
A. Established a family of spirit sons, not servants.
B. Established a kingdom, not a religious organization.
C. Established a kingdom of kings, not subjects.
D. Established a commonwealth of citizens, not religious members.
E. Established a relationship with man, not a religion.
F. Extended His heavenly government to earth.
G. Influenced earth from heaven through mankind.
2. Find verses, parables or stories in God's Constitution that reflect each of the purposes listed above.
3. How can the future of man find its original purpose again? What posture will the church need to take? What will those who goes under the title Christian need to believe?
4. What will be needed to bring your life into alignment with the original purpose and plan of the Lord God? Is there a first step that you might take?
God's purpose was to establish a Kingdom of sons, not subjects. He wants sons. He does not want to rule us, but to have a family who shares His rulership.
For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
