Populating the Earth Wasn't the Primary Purpose of Marriage
One of the misconceptions that many people have, both inside and outside the church, is that the primary purpose of marriage is the propagation of the human race. But the Constitution indicates otherwise. Even though God issued the charge to man to "be fruitful and multiply" and although He defines marriage as the parameters in which reproduction should take place, procreation is not the primary purpose for marriage.
Constitutional Scripture: Genesis 1:28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Please note: God's command has to do with creation and subduing the created order.
Focus point: Remember, God blessed them and said to them "Be fruitful and multiply (increase in number); fill the earth and subdue it". Remember again, God created man; male and female; and He expected them to procreate and fill the earth with other humans, all of whom would rule over the created order as manager or vice-regent.
Focus Point: Keep in mind, marriage was essentially a companionship covenant, the relational structure through which men and women--husbands and wives--would join and become one flesh and together rule the earthly dominion God had given them. Procreation is the function of marriage, but not the main function or focus.
Please note: Keep in mind: Unmarried men and women have no problem at all making babies and then not supporting them.
Remember what Paul stated in the Constitution when writing to Timothy:
Constitutional Scripture: I Timothy 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
Focus Point: Allow me to make this very plain: Abortion is in no way "family planning" nor is it "healthcare"
Abortion is termination of life and the premeditated destruction of potential. In essence, it is murder.
Focus Point: Abortion is rebellion against the known will of God. True family planning is mature, responsible stewardship.
Please note: Keep in mind what God the Creator stated to Jeremiah.
Constitutional Scripture Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”
