Marriage Is Like a Precious Gem
I must say this, people today shop for relationships the way they shop for clothes. They try something on for size, and if it does not fit, they simply try something else. When they find something that suits them, they wear it for a while until it fades or goes out of style. Then they throw it out or hang it up in the back of their closet and rush out to replace it.
In this world that we now live in, we as humans have become disposable; we have been cast off, and thrown away in this society that has largely lost any real sense of permanence.
Please note: In this world, nothing is absolute.
Please note: Every day the media--television soap operas, sitcoms, prime-time dramas, books, magazines and movies bombard us with images of wives cheating on their husbands and husbands cheating on their wives. Unmarried men and women hop into bed with each other at a drop of a hat (fornication), and just as quickly hop out again to find their next partner. There are times when they remind me of a doorknob--everyone gets a turn!
I find in today's world, people shop for relationships the way they shop for clothes. Nothing is absolute. Truth exists only in the eye of the beholder and morality is out the window of this society.
Focus Point: Marriage is the deepest and most intimate of all human relationships, and yet there is a full scale war on this institution. When two become one and are in covenant with God, it is the most powerful union on earth and destroys the works of the enemy!
Focus Point: Remember, after all is said and done, it's God's Word that will stand, now and in the judgment:
Constitutional Scripture: Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Words will by no means pass away.
Focus Point: Keep this in mind: Marriage wasn't man's idea, it was the idea of the Creator, God.
Question: Does marriage still make sense in our transitory world?
Answer: You better believe that it does! God Himself created the institution of marriage. he is the one that we will have to answer to.
Focus Point: Mankind did not simply dream up the institution of marriage as a convenient way of handling relationships and responsibilities between men and women or dealing with childbearing and parenting issues.
