Manifesting Our Kingdom Culture Through Language

While I was residing in New York City, I heard so many languages in addition to English—Chinese, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Korean, etc. I had a group of international friends. By being around them, I learned some of their language, so I didn’t feel like a stranger around them. One thing I learned, when you understand their language, communicating and understanding is easier.
Last week, I spoke about the tower of Babel. Please take the time to read the whole chapter of Genesis 11 to get more insight. Since the whole world at that time only had one language, we can say that they had powerful potential. Keep in mind, they used that power or language to build something for themselves and the King said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” Genesis 11:6-7
In essence, He was saying “This is wrong. Everything that you are using is Mine. The ground is Mine, The water is Mine, The straw is Mine. The nails and the hammers are all made from materials that I created. Yet you think you should get the credit and glory for what you build.” Pride! Then they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar. And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.” Genesis 11:3-4
The King didn’t destroy it because that wasn’t necessary. He confused their language. Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth. Genesis 11:9
By the way, this is where the world babel comes from. Babel means confusion or the confusing sound of many people talking at the same time or using different languages If the key to power is one unified language, then the key to weakness is many languages. When I take a moment to think about it I truly believe this is the reason the United Nations is so ineffective. Different languages and the cultures they create, most definitely promote misunderstandings and disunity. For then I will restore to the peoples a pure language that they all may call on the name of the Lord, to serve Him with one accord. Zephaniah 3:9
Keep in mind, sin is separation from God. The disobedience of mankind damaged the unity and communication with the Lord God; until the Lord God sent His Son and put mankind back in the right position to reconnect once again through the Holy Spirit. One of the first things the Holy Spirit, our Kingdom Governor, gives us after we receive His filling is the ability to speak in heaven-given languages. There are times when He may have you speak an earthly language that you may not understand, as on the Day of Pentecost. And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.”
So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “Whatever could this mean?”
Others mocking said, “They are full of new wine.” Acts 2:5-13
He may have you speak a Heavenly language that is unknown on this earth. It is a Heaven-given language that the Governor enables us humans to once again share a “common tongue” or language with our Heavenly Father and King, showing us that we belong to His Heavenly Kingdom. It is the language of our Kingdom.
While King Jesus was here on earth, He made this statement: And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:17-18 After the Lord Jesus accomplished His purpose and mission of the restoration of humankind, He made this statement: But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8 Remember, the promise of the Father wasn’t only for Kingdom power, but also for Kingdom language. A government has a language. According to the Lord Jesus, when you receive Kingdom citizenship, you receive a new “tongue” (language). And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues. Mark 16:17
You may wonder, what is the purpose of tongues, our Heavenly language? Speaking in tongues is a key element of our Kingdom identity. Tongues enable us as Kingdom citizens to once more communicate directly with the Father. Ambassador Paul put it this way: Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:26-27 Tongues are also a sign that we are connected with the King. Again, ambassador Paul made it very clear: Dear brothers and sisters, don’t be childish in your understanding of these things. Be innocent as babies when it comes to evil, but be mature in understanding matters of this kind. It is written in the Scriptures: “I will speak to My own people through strange languages and through the lips of foreigners. But even then, they will not listen to me,” says the Lord.
So you see that speaking in tongues is a sign, not for believers, but for unbelievers. Prophecy, however, is for the benefit of believers, not unbelievers. 1 Corinthians 14:20-22 NLT
Speaking in tongues is evidence of our citizenship in the Kingdom. There was an incident in the book of Acts, where the Holy Spirit—the Governor—was poured out on new Kingdom citizens in the city of Caesarea. While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Acts 10:44-46
But some will question, are tongues real? Just because we may not understand something in God's Word, doesn't mean it isn't real or for today. Well, Arlene and I must testify that they are real. Speaking in tongues is actually communication between Heaven and Earth. It is communication between the King and His citizens. Your language identifies who you are. Your language connects you to your country. My physical body is in the United States and I speak English. But my spirit is a citizen of God’s Kingdom and speaks in His heavenly language.
Remember, your faith in His Word is your greatest asset in the Kingdom.
