Knowledge, Information From the Lord God
Jesus made it quite clear in dealing with people while He was on earth that if we stay in His Word, we will be free to live effectively. Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” The first thing that the Lord God gave Adam for their protection was information. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” As long as they obeyed the Lord and respected His boundaries, they would live and prosper and enjoy unlimited fellowship with their Creator.
Note: Knowledge lies at the heart of the struggle between the two kingdoms. Why? Because knowledge is where the adversary mounted his original attack on humanity. This is why it is so important to study God's Word. Satan's most powerful weapon is ignorance, but to use it he must first destroy or distort true knowledge. That is exactly what he did with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. He deceived and overcame them by attacking the source and substance of their knowledge. Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’” Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
As a result of Satan's plan, Adam and Eve developed a distorted understanding of the knowledge the Lord God had given them. They succumbed to the devil's manipulation and trickery to become like God although they were already like Him. In their disobedience, Adam and Eve, rather than becoming like God, became less like God than they were before. Please note: Obeying God's Word is your key to success in this life.

Thoughtful Questions:
- How does information afford us protection? Are we responsible for the information we have received? Is there any excuse for not using that knowledge?
- Obedience is the key to life, prosperity and enjoying unlimited fellowship with our Creator. Why is obedience so important?
- Why does God give us boundaries when we are supposed to be rulers? Does each boundary limit our realm? Why or why not?
- Has Satan ever distorted knowledge that you received from God so that you were tempted to sin? How can we tell the difference between truth and deceit?
Please note: In a practical sense, from the beachhead established at Calvary, we must move forth in an all out attack to free mankind from bondage, from the devil and his evil kingdom of darkness. Now we who are in Christ must work to eliminate the ignorance of those who are still trapped in the darkness of Satan's deceptions. The antidote to ignorance is knowledge. Remember this, knowledge comes through truth, and truth brings liberation.
Thought provoking questions: Who are the individuals around you who are trapped in the darkness of Satan's deceptions? How might you bring them knowledge, truth and therefore liberation?
