Knowing My Kingdom Purpose

What does my Kingdom purpose look like? How does it feel? How can I be sure I won’t miss it? Most of us have had these very thoughts, and even asked them, at some point in our life in God’s Kingdom! For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure. Philippians 2:13 AMP
Hearing someone’s testimony can be encouraging, so today I’d like to share some of our testimony in knowing our purpose and what we have learned along the way. Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim His greatness. Let the whole world know what He has done. 1 Chronicles 16:8 . . . And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die. Revelation 12:11
God does things in ways we would never consider.
Ten years ago—May 2012—we launched a website as a platform to teach the Gospel of the Kingdom of God that the Lord Jesus taught. It began with my husband’s strong desire to teach people about God’s Kingdom. During that time, I was being led to build a website and publish the Kingdom articles he would write. I am not a web designer and had no knowledge of how that worked, but the Holy Spirit led me every step of the way. Glory! Also, my husband always visualized preaching and teaching in front of a group of people in a meeting place or auditorium. But our “calling” was to the world, not a city. We had no point of reference to do this, but the Holy Spirit did. We listened and moved forward one step at a time. Our finite minds can never truly see all He has planned for us! No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him. But it was to us that God revealed these things by His Spirit. For His Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. 1 Corinthians 2:9-10
For most of us, our Kingdom purpose isn’t our source of income.
The Holy Spirit gave us two specific directives: 1) Teach only about the Kingdom of God, making it freely available around the world to all those the Holy Spirit leads to the website; and 2) Don’t use it for profit. So we write, He leads and provides. The Lord God has always provided steady income away from the website. He even provided just enough donations and e-book sales to cover all the website/ministry expenses. He is so good! I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread. Psalm 37:25 NKJV
Don’t think God’s purpose for you will make you wealthy.
Never let it become something you promote, brand or “work” to make money. Never allow money to become the focus. Daily remind yourself of what your Kingdom purpose is, once you have a glimpse of it. Money and the quest for it, can shift our focus from God’s purpose gradually until it is what we seek rather than His Kingdom and His righteousness! No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.
That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to Him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, He will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?
So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:24-33
You never really “arrive”. Always be tuned to the Holy Spirit, ready to change.
If we thought that the Kingdom Citizens website was “it” for our purpose, we wouldn’t have over 500 You Tube videos or 4 Kingdom e-books now. As our Governor—the Holy Spirit—leads, we move and change. We add things and remove things. Always be flexible and ready to “go with the flow” of the Spirit. Then the Lord said to Elijah, “Go to the east and hide by Kerith Brook, near where it enters the Jordan River. Drink from the brook and eat what the ravens bring you, for I have commanded them to bring you food.”
So Elijah did as the Lord told him and camped beside Kerith Brook, east of the Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and meat each morning and evening, and he drank from the brook. But after a while the brook dried up, for there was no rainfall anywhere in the land.
Then the Lord said to Elijah, “Go and live in the village of Zarephath, near the city of Sidon. I have instructed a widow there to feed you.” 1 Kings 17:2-9 What if Elijah had liked it at the brook Kerith and really didn’t want to move? I believe he would have been miserable, but think about the blessings the widow would have missed out on, unless God called someone else to go.
Your Kingdom purpose is unique.
Never look at what others are doing and try to copy that. The Lord God created each of us to be unique, down to our very DNA and fingerprints! Why would He give us a duplicate job? I have seen too many ministries and churches trying to copy mega ministries, right down to their stages, branding and clothes. I just want to say, “Who told you to copy them?! If He has given them that assignment, why would He ask you to do the same thing?” Different assignments will reach different people! He is the God of infinite possibilities! I am the Lord, your Holy One, Israel’s Creator and King. I am the Lord, who opened a way through the waters, making a dry path through the sea. I called forth the mighty army of Egypt with all its chariots and horses. I drew them beneath the waves, and they drowned, their lives snuffed out like a smoldering candlewick.
But forget all that—it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. Isaiah 43:15-19
Once you know your Kingdom purpose, stay focused
Learning to say “no” is vital. Saying no to sin is only one part of it, but many good opportunities and requests will come your way. Everything should be measured against your Kingdom purpose. Does it fit with, or detract from it? Listen to the Holy Spirit. If you don’t feel peace in your Spirit, only pressure to say yes, you probably should say no. Saying no helps to guard God’s Kingdom purpose in your life. We are so easily distracted! Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path. Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil. Proverbs 4:25-27
One step at a time.
You don’t need a detailed plan to begin. Just take one step. The Lord God asks us to use “what’s in our hands”. As with the loaves and fishes, He takes what we have, blesses and multiplies it to fulfill His purpose in our life. You don’t need to see the whole pathway, only one step at a time. Your Word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105 The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand. Psalm 37:23-24
When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own but will tell you what He has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring Me glory by telling you whatever He receives from Me. All that belongs to the Father is Mine; this is why I said, “The Spirit will tell you whatever He receives from Me.” John 16:13-15
In the past ten years, we have heard from people around the world, who are now embracing Jesus' message of the Kingdom of God and teaching it in their communities! We are so thankful for God's plan for our lives. We are just two people who know that with God all things are possible!
He must increase, but I must decrease. John 3:30 NLJV
