Remember, if people can name you, they will define you.
When you are born again, you have to start from the beginning. You have to learn the way of the Kingdom government from a Kingdom perspective. When someone asks me if I am a Christian, I emphatically reply: “No. I am not religious, but a citizen of God’s Kingdom government”. Other times, I respond by saying “I am an ambassador of the Kingdom of the Lord God”. Ambassador Paul made it very clear that those who are born again have their citizenship in Heaven. For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame—who set their mind on earthly things. For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 3:18-20
Notice that Paul didn’t say that heaven is our eternal home. He stated that our citizenship is in heaven—meaning that since we have been born again we are becoming more like Him. Heaven is God’s throne room, as King Jesus described it: But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God’s throne. Matthew 5:34 Also spoken of by the prophet Isaiah: Thus says the Lord: “Heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest?” Isaiah 66:1
Keep in mind that the earth has been given to mankind. This is why the Lord Jesus said there will be a new Heaven and a new Earth. The Earth is for us who are Kingdom citizens. Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.” Revelation 21:1-3 John was given this vision by the King.
The earth was always meant for mankind to live on. That is why He placed man in charge. Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:26-28
The Lord God always keeps His promise. He cannot lie. If He said it, it WILL come to pass! Remember, those of us who are His children and citizens should always reflect His values and principles. When people see and hear us, they should see our Lord and King reflected in us. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. 1 John 3:2-3
Those who are filled with the Holy Spirit—our Kingdom Governor—are led by the Spirit and are children of God and citizens of His Kingdom. There are no religions in His Kingdom. Remember that all religions are made manmade. Religion hides God’s Kingdom government behind a veil of religious traditions and rules. Religion focuses on "doing" rather than "being"!
One characteristic of a Kingdom citizen is that we reflect the King’s values. Nothing we do should be contrary to that. In Christianity, because denominations make the rules, they may later change or break those rules. It doesn’t always reflect the One they claim to serve. But God’s Word is eternal and unchanging. It does not change with the culture. Our culture is not of this world, it comes from the Words of the Lord God. If you have His DNA, you should always reflect His values and guard His reputation.
On this earth, your name and reputation should reflect His reputation. I guard my name and reputation because I represent the King and His Kingdom everywhere I go. I guard my reputation for His name sake! He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Psalm 23:3 I seek to follow the lead of the Governor. There have been times in the past where my wife and I had challenges concerning our different skin color. But I refuse to allow the enemy to ruin my reputation. I do not take his bait but seek to reflect my Lord and King in every situation. I give my King the glory through the indwelling of the Governor.
Understand that when you have a purpose and assignment from the King, you have a reputation to protect because your life is not your own. What you say and do matters. Ambassador Paul described to the Kingdom citizens in Rome what we all deal with: I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. I love God’s law with all my heart. But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.” Romans 7:21-25 NLT
This is why it is so important to keep your mind filled with the King’s Word, and the Holy Spirit will bring it to your mind in times when you need that word to strengthen you! You have a choice. Your mind will instruct your body. That’s why it is vital to be full of God’s Word. In times of great testing, you won’t run to your Bible to find a Word from your King. It must already be in your mind and heart.
Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You. Blessed are You, O Lord! Teach me Your statutes. Psalm 119:11-12
We will always have challenges in life, but knowing who you are in God’s Kingdom and listening to the leading of the Holy Spirit will help keep you from the enemy’s traps. As I said, you always have a choice. He wants you to choose to be His Kingdom citizens in right standing. That is one He can use for His Glory!
But God’s truth stands firm like a foundation stone with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and “All who belong to the Lord must turn away from evil.”
In a wealthy home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use. If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work. 2 Timothy 2:19-21 NLT
Remember, your greatest asset in the Kingdom is your faith in His Word.
