One of the things that I have noticed is, they never mention the word race or color when referring to people. Also, throughout the four Gospels, Jesus never referred to His biological relatives as family. This is how He spoke of them: Then Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see Him. They stood outside and sent word for Him to come out and talk with them. There was a crowd sitting around Jesus, and someone said, “Your mother and your brothers are outside asking for you.”
Jesus replied, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” Then He looked at those around Him and said, “Look, these are my mother and brothers. Anyone who does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”
Those of us who are of a Kingdom mindset, who have embraced Jesus as Lord and King, are family and citizens of the Kingdom of God. There are times when your biological family will be a distraction. His brothers and sisters were definitely a distraction, but He stayed focused on His message and purpose. One time Jesus entered a house, and the crowds began to gather again. Soon He and His disciples couldn’t even find time to eat. When his family heard what was happening, they tried to take Him away. “He’s out of his mind,” they said.
What I am noticing among African Americans in the United States is that they are embracing their color above the Lord God’s Word. They call it race, but in reality, it is culture and skin color. This is a serious deception of demonic spirits, keeping them from their Kingdom purpose. It is to divide the people of faith in the Lord Jesus. We are a spirit, living in a body made of dirt. Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.
The enemy of the Kingdom uses any means necessary to distract the Lord God’s people from embracing the Kingdom message: Social media, news, entertainment, music, religion, politics, family members, relationships, sex, money, etc. The list is endless. Our sole purpose is to focus on our King and Creator…to seek His Kingdom and do His Will. Read the last statement Jesus made to the devil in the wilderness. Next the devil took him to the peak of a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
“I will give it all to you,” he said, “if you will kneel down and worship me.”
“Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only Him.’”
Never allow yourself to compromise His Word with your opinion. Never allow your behavior to be a distraction to others. It is so important for you to stay in obedience to His Word. In this world of distractions, it is so easy to be misguided. Remember, while the Lord Jesus was here on earth, He was our perfect example of Kingdom living. Make it your priority to read and study the four Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke and John on a consistent basis. Allow the Governor (Holy Spirit) to guide you. Also, in times of crisis, he will be there.
“And when you are brought to trial in the synagogues and before rulers and authorities, don’t worry about how to defend yourself or what to say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what needs to be said.”
Build up your faith in Him through His Constitution (Word), because your faith in the King is your greatest asset.
