But mankind was never meant to be glorified or praised or lifted up above others. He is the created, not the Creator. Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” Genesis 1:26 Man should never get what the Lord God deserves. Mankind wasn’t designed to be praised but to praise. King David certainly knew that and made it quite clear in his prayers to the Lord God.
Bow down Your ear, O Lord, hear me; For I am poor and needy. Preserve my life, for I am holy; You are my God; Save Your servant who trusts in You! Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I cry to You all day long. Rejoice the soul of Your servant, for to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; And attend to the voice of my supplications. In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, for You will answer me. Among the gods there is none like You, O Lord; Nor are there any works like Your works. All nations whom You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord, and shall glorify Your name. For You are great, and do wondrous things; You alone are God. Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name. I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And I will glorify Your name forevermore. Psalm 86:1-12
The Lord God uses many people to spread His Kingdom message, but too often people choose to praise the messenger more than the King. Many praise the preacher more than the God he serves. They take their eyes off King Jesus. This is why false teachers and preachers are able to take advantage of the Lord God’s people. Again, mankind wasn’t created or built to be worshiped. We are to encourage and lift people up but not to the point of worship. They must never be placed in a position to be equal or above God in a person’s mind. In my lifetime I have seen some individuals delivered from sickness through the gift of others but it is the Lord God who heals. Yet many people fail to give the King the honor and praise that He deserves. As a result of your ministry, they will give glory to God. For your generosity to them and to all believers will prove that you are obedient to the Good News of Christ. 2 Corinthians 9:13 NLT
So many men praise the woman, singing songs about her that sometimes sound like worship songs. Yet they forget about the One who made her. I love my wife very much, but I never forget who gave her to me. I glorify His name every day of my life and always acknowledge Him in my words, behavior and actions with others.
“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”
Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. Matthew 22:36-38
Kingdom citizens conduct themselves as those who live by their King’s standard. Too many who claim to know the Lord God fail to conduct themselves in accordance with His Word. When His laws and principles become optional, we become merely part of a religious organization. Ambassador Paul put it this way: But God shows His anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. They know the truth about God because He has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see His invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature.
So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship Him as God or even give Him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused.
Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools.
And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.
So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies.
They traded the truth about God for a lie.
So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Romans 1:18-25 NLT
Our Lord and King wants all the praise and honor. Take a moment to think of all the things He has delivered you from, people He has brought into your life, and even those He has removed from your life! He will share His glory with no man! I am the Lord, that is My name; And My glory I will not give to another, Nor My praise to carved images. Isaiah 42:8 I will rescue you for my sake—yes, for My own sake! I will not let My reputation be tarnished, and I will not share My glory with idols! Isaiah 48:11 NLT Those are the words of our Lord and King, spoken to His representative Isaiah.
Keep in mind, those of us who are filled with His Spirit—meaning reborn—have to learn His ways and develop His standard for living this Kingdom lifestyle. If we want to be led of the Holy Spirit, our Governor, it is imperative that we read and study His Kingdom Constitution. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. Hosea 4:6 Remember that the Bible is God’s Kingdom Constitution, His testaments to His citizens.
The same message applies to us as Kingdom citizens. The Kingdom of the Lord God resides in us. Remember what King Jesus stated when the Pharisees asked “when the Kingdom would come”. Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the Kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The Kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the Kingdom of God is within you.” Luke 17:20-21
Whenever you hear a message being delivered by a preacher or teacher, give the King the glory and thank Him for the obedience of His ambassador for following the lead of the Holy Spirit. Give the glory and praise to the King, not the messenger. Keep everything in the right perspective. Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of His creatures. James 1:16-18
Remember, your faith in His Word is your greatest asset in His Kingdom.
