Then the people began to murmur in disagreement because He had said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” They said, “Isn’t this Jesus, the son of Joseph? We know His father and mother. How can He say, ‘I came down from heaven’?”
But Jesus replied, “Stop complaining about what I said. For no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me, and at the last day I will raise them up. Yes, that is right! No person can come to the Kingdom of God unless the Spirit draws them. That answers the question of why people are just religious and not Kingdom citizens.
Before I came to embrace the Kingdom message, I was religious, sinful and full of disobedience to His Word. Little did I know, it was all in the journey and process to get where I am today. By the way, I am still in that process. I went through a journey of disobedience to obedience, and it wasn't a bed of roses. The whole time, the Lord Jesus had His hands on me, guiding me through the Holy Spirit. I have learned, when you are led of the Holy Spirit (Governor) your own people will misunderstand you, just as they did in the time of our King Jesus. Many of His disciples said, “This is very hard to understand. How can anyone accept it?”
Jesus was aware that His disciples were complaining, so He said to them, “Does this offend you? Then what will you think if you see the Son of Man ascend to heaven again? The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life. But some of you do not believe Me.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning which ones didn’t believe, and He knew who would betray Him.) Then He said, “That is why I said that people can’t come to me unless the Father gives them to me.”
At this point many of His disciples turned away and deserted Him. Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, “Are you also going to leave?”
Those who are hungry for truth and righteousness and a pure heart will seek after the Kingdom. They will make it their top priority. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.
Every one of you reading this article should take time out of your busy day to evaluate where the Lord Jesus has brought you from. Also, think of what He has kept your from. Yes, thank the Lord Jesus for His grace and mercy! Remember the question they asked among themselves: “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” Now hear the King's response: So Jesus said again, “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you cannot have eternal life within you. But anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise that person at the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. I live because of the living Father who sent me; in the same way, anyone who feeds on me will live because of me. I am the true bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will not die as your ancestors did (even though they ate the manna) but will live forever.”
Never judge by what you may see or by others appearance, but let yourself be guided by the Holy Spirit. Words of wisdom to live by! Jesus made that perfectly clear. When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own but will tell you what He has heard. He will tell you about the future.
There is one statement I want you to pay attention to: "He will not speak on His own". It reminds and admonishes us to not give our opinions or what we "think", but only speak what the Father speaks...God's Word is our only response. I have learned in my time on this earth that the Holy Spirit--our Governor--does not need my leadership. He just wants my submission to the King's Word. From there He will guide you to all truth.
Never discount someone lost because you don't know the journey they may have traveled. That isn't our responsibility. Remember the journey and process King David went through. Listen to what the Lord God stated. But God removed Saul and replaced him with David, a man about whom God said, ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He will do everything I want him to do.’
Remember, your faith in the Lord God's Word is your greatest asset in His Kingdom.
