Image by Myriams-Fotos from Pixabay While the Lord Jesus was here on this earth, He spoke of the Governor being with us and in us for that purpose. “If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.… But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” John 14:15-17,26
The Holy Spirit will Govern, but we must listen
The Holy Spirit has been sent to govern our lives as we read and study the King’s Constitution. He doesn’t force you, but He guides and leads you to where the King would have you to go. The Father and Son operate through the Holy Spirit, just as citizens of a king’s colony are led by the king’s appointed governor. The Lord Jesus put it perfectly: “Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.” John 14:10
While King Jesus was here on earth, He could not be in you, but while here He could be with you. Because of His physical body, He could only be in one place at a time. But when the Holy Spirit was sent, His Spirit could be in people all over the world at once. When you have His Word living in you, you are carrying His Spirit with you. What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where He was before? It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. John 6:62-63
We may have religious leaders and teachers, but first and foremost, we are to be guided and taught by our Kingdom Governor. That is why the Father sent the Holy Spirit. He will guide and teach us His Righteousness and Truth. “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.” John 16:12-13
When you have the Governor residing in you, He will glorify King Jesus. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you. John 16:14-16 The Holy Spirit is vital to our Kingdom citizenship. We cannot do without Him! And note that I stated “Him” not “it”. Remember that the Holy Spirit, our Kingdom Governor, is a person, not a thing, nor a “ghost”!
It is vital that we understand the importance of following the leading of the Holy Spirit. Without Him, we would struggle to be obedient to His Word in our own strength. If you are a person of influence in this world you could lead others to the King. The same holds true on the flip side of that statement. If you fail to live up to the King’s standard and fail to live according to His Word, you will lead many people away from the King. As they say, “The world is watching” and looking for an opportunity that shows you aren’t living what you say you believe. We have all seen religious leaders and pastors who preach the Word, say they live for Christ, but are “half stepping”. They are caught up in the things of this world that WILL take them down.
They are not being led by the Holy Spirit.
They are working for a paycheck and popularity. They wear the right clothes, say the right things, preach the sermons that get lots of amens, but they don’t listen to the Holy Spirit. They do it in their own abilitiy. Their actions do not line up with the Word. Many have rejected King Jesus because of that very lifestyle. They do not believe Jesus is real. These people do damage to the Kingdom. Many have departed from the faith that believe in Christ. This is a sign of the end of times in which we live. Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron” 1 Timothy 4:1-2
I cannot imagine! I would be devastated if I learned that my life and behavior turned anyone away from Jesus! But, as Timothy said, “their conscience is seared with a hot iron”. Skin that has been seared with a hot iron becomes thick, rigid and has no feeling. We must always stay tender and sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, our Governor. Jesus said, “So I tell you, every sin and blasphemy can be forgiven—except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which will never be forgiven. Anyone who speaks against the Son of Man can be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, either in this world or in the world to come.” Matthew 12:31-32 NLT
Remember, your greatest asset is your faith in the Lord God’s Word.
