But this was the Lord Jesus’ response: So Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?” John 18:11
It is not our responsibility to pick up weapons and fight for the Kingdom. God’s Kingdom isn’t of this three dimensional world. Do you recall what the Lord Jesus stated to Peter when he drew his sword to defend Jesus? But Jesus said to him, “Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? Matthew 26:52-53 With a Kingdom mindset, the Governor—the Holy Spirit—will bring these verses to your remembrance when needed!
Keep in mind that our greatest weapons aren’t physical. I recall what ambassador Paul stated in a letter to the Ephesians. He compared weapons of the Lord God to a Roman soldier’s armor. Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints. Ephesians 6:10-18
The only offensive weapon is the “sword of the Spirit”—that is the Word of the Lord God. It is vital that citizens of the Kingdom read and study His Word. I hear so many times of Christian believers carry guns and weapons to protect themselves, but if you are following the Lord God’s Constitution you understand that you don’t need such weapons. Don’t get me wrong. I am not against guns, only pointing out that our faith in the Father’s protection should be so strong that we won’t need them. We know without a doubt that nothing can remove us from this earth until that day the Lord has already ordained. He knows our end from our beginning and nothing takes Him by surprise! Remember the things I have done in the past. For I alone am God! I am God, and there is none like me. Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish. Isaiah 46:9-10 NLT
If you walk in the Spirit, you won’t need the things of the flesh.
This should be our mindset. The only way we get this mindset is through embracing His Word on a daily basis. King Jesus is the Word made flesh. Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him… It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The Words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” John 6:53-56, 63
Every since you were reborn, you weren’t the same person you once were. Your family may not see it right away, but they soon will realize there has been a change in you. They may say you have changed, or you aren’t as “fun” as you used to be. They may approach you as the person you no longer are. You are in their world, but you are no longer of that world. Knowing that is helpful, I can testify! Represent your Kingdom culture in their presence.
Our responsibility is to always pray in the Spirit. King Jesus made this statement to His disciples: Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41 By the way, that was a command, not a request. Too often, people look at scriptures as suggestions or are optional!
As citizens of God’s Kingdom, remember that we as saints of the Lord God should stop conducting ourselves as though we are slaves. It is important to understand who you are in the Kingdom. Do you recall what ambassador Paul stated? So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law. Galatians 5:1 NLT And how do we follow His laws but not become slaves to those laws? By understanding that King Jesus fulfilled all the law. It is through Him and the power of the Holy Spirit that we may walk in obedience to His laws and principles. Doing it in our own strength is slavery. “Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God’s law will disappear until its purpose is achieved. So if you ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God’s laws and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. Matthew 5:17-19 NLT
Jesus is our Lord and King. He is the One who gave His life for us.
Remember, your faith in His Word is your greatest asset in the Kingdom.
