Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6 “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water (physical birth) and the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God.” John 3:5
Anyone can create a religion around anything which they strongly believe. Religion is manmade. Man was created with a desire to praise or worship. If that desire is not met, it may be misdirected. Now when the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered together to Aaron, and said to him, “Come, make us gods that shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.”
And Aaron said to them, “Break off the golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.” So all the people broke off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron. And he received the gold from their hand, and he fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made a molded calf.
Then they said, “This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!”
So when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it. And Aaron made a proclamation and said, “Tomorrow is a feast to the Lord.” Then they rose early on the next day, offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. Exodus 32:1-6
To this day, people seek to have something or someone to worship or praise other than the one and only God who created the Heavens and the earth. Look around. Today there are many who worship the famous: sports figures, Hollywood actors, celebrities and even those we would consider “famous” in churches and ministries.
These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men. Matthew 15:8-9
We live in an entertainment-driven world, which has made its way into Christianity and the church. They call it “praise and worship” but too often it is actually a performance with an audience, a darkened room, and colorful spotlights.
Keep in mind, our Kingdom Governor—the Holy Spirit—lives in our individual bodies once we are cleansed through the Word. The King made that perfectly clear. You are already clean because of the Word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. John 15:3-5 In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. John 1:1 AMP
In the Kingdom of the Lord God, you only have one standard to live up to. . . the King’s. There are no other rules or traditions, other than His Constitution, which are His Living Testaments to His people. From the very beginning, religious leaders have taken it and made it a religious book and Jesus a religious figure to fit their religious beliefs. But it is God’s Constitution for all people, regardless of their background or culture. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3:16-17
Remember, the Kingdom of the Lord God is a government, not a religion called Christianity. King Jesus made this perfectly clear when He first began to teach. From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand.” And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the Kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people. Matthew 4:17 & 23 Notice that He says nothing concerning a religion. He spoke and operated in the power of His Kingdom. That was the Holy Spirit residing within Him. Remember that the Kingdom of Heaven is where the Lord God resides; the Kingdom of God is the influence of His Presence in your life—meaning our Kingdom Governor, the Holy Spirit.
Now keep in mind that a religious mindset hinders one from embracing a Kingdom mindset.
As Jesus said: “If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.” John 14:15-18 By the way, I can surely testify that the Governor will lead and teach you! “These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” John 14:25-26
There are many roads that lead to many religions but only one way to the Kingdom; that is first through Jesus and then by obedience to His Word. If you love Him, then keep His Word. Jesus is our door, giving us entrance into His Kingdom; and our access to the Father. In order for you to become a Kingdom citizen, you must be filled with His Spirit. His Holy Spirit was so important that He instructed His disciples to wait on Him. And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” Acts 1:4-5
Religion hinders and hides the Lord Jesus’ message of His Kingdom. When church is more about obeying denominational doctrines, filling seats and offering baskets it has nothing to do with the Kingdom of God as Jesus taught. If you don’t agree, read the four Gospels and compare the words of Jesus with the modern day church.
Do you tell people more about your church or about God’s Kingdom? The Kingdom message was so important to the Lord Jesus that He stayed an extra forty days, speaking of things pertaining to His Kingdom. I believe He knew of all the distractions and misdirection they would encounter! The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the Kingdom of God. Acts 1:1-3
Remember, your faith in the Lord God’s Word is your greatest asset in the Kingdom.
