Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?”
Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” John 18:37
In the Lord God’s Constitution, it teaches that He does everything in union with the purpose of His heart. The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations. Psalm 33:11 Keep in mind that God's Constitution, from the beginning, tells us that He not only created things by speaking them into existence but also gave each creation a purpose. Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.”Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day.
Then God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas. And God saw that it was good. Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good… Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind”; and it was so. Genesis 1:6-12, 24
Even the lights the Lord set in the sky have their purpose. They separate the day from the night. They serve as timekeepers to mark seasons, days and years and to give light to this earth. Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:14-18
Here is one point Arlene and I want to drive home to you. There are no greater or lesser purpose and assignment in God’s Kingdom There are only divine purposes given by the Lord God. In the world we see people with big ministries, doing “big” things but we don’t see our assignment through God’s eyes. We may think we are doing a little thing, but our Lord and King is doing a mighty thing through it! Whatever your assignment is, His Divine purpose is unique to you and great. You are here to fulfill that assignment!
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them. For God knew His people in advance, and He chose them to become like His Son, so that His Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And having chosen them, He called them to come to Him. And having called them, He gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, He gave them His glory. Romans 8:28-30 NLT
Finally, remember that being in God’s purpose doesn’t mean everything will be smooth. King Jesus was obedient to the point of death. His flesh did not want to suffer and die, but He knew His purpose and He submitted to the will of His Father. “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”
Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground. Luke 22:42-44 His only Son was obedient to the point of death. In God’s Constitution ambassador Paul made this statement: And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Philippians 2:8 And the Lord God, His Father, rewarded Him. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:9-11
Remember, your faith in the Lord Jesus’ Word is your greatest asset in the Kingdom.
