In God's Constitution to His citizens, the scripture teaches us that He does everything in union with a purpose in His heart. The Lord frustrates the plans of the nations and thwarts all their schemes. But the Lord’s plans stand firm forever; His intentions can never be shaken. What joy for the nation whose God is the Lord, whose people He has chosen as His inheritance. The Lord looks down from heaven and sees the whole human race. From His throne He observes all who live on the earth. He made their hearts, so He understands everything they do. Psalm 33:10-15 NLT
In order for you to know His purpose for your life, you must seek Him with all your heart. We do not seek our purpose, we seek Him! “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8 But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:33
You will never get anything by taking a casual attitude, you must really want it. There are many who think they are in their purpose and assignment, but is it what our Governor—the Holy Spirit—led them to? The Holy Spirit will reveal your divine purpose. There may be things you want to do and could do well. Do them! But don’t think that is all there is to your life. Pursue His divine purpose for your life! “If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.” John 14:15-17 There He is again—the Holy Spirit! We don’t always realize that the Holy Spirit—our Kingdom Governor—is our direct line of communication with our Lord and King! He tells us everything we need to know. However, when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you. John 16:13-15
When you are in right-standing with the King, He will lead and guide you to your divine purpose and make your assignment(s) clear. That is what happened with us. When it happens, you will know it. Maybe not right at first, but in time you will recognize that the Lord God has placed you where you are to be and you are fulfilling His divine purpose. Remember that before this happens, you must have a transformed mind by God’s Word. Ambassador Paul made that very clear when he was speaking to Kingdom citizens at Rome. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:1-2
Keep in mind, when you are called to a purpose and given an assignment, you are protected by the Governor. As long as you stay in good standing with the King, nothing will harm you or stop you until you finish what He has called you to do. That may sound extreme, but I fervently believe that as God’s Kingdom truth. You will be attacked, but the King will have His angels take charge and be dispatched to protect you. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust. Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked.
Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra. The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.” Psalm 91:1-16
Ambassador Paul is an excellent example of the Lord God’s protection when he was on the island of Malta: Once we were safe on shore, we learned that we were on the island of Malta. The people of the island were very kind to us. It was cold and rainy, so they built a fire on the shore to welcome us.
As Paul gathered an armful of sticks and was laying them on the fire, a poisonous snake, driven out by the heat, bit him on the hand. The people of the island saw it hanging from his hand and said to each other, “A murderer, no doubt! Though he escaped the sea, justice will not permit him to live.”
But Paul shook off the snake into the fire and was unharmed. The people waited for him to swell up or suddenly drop dead. But when they had waited a long time and saw that he wasn’t harmed, they changed their minds and decided he was a god. Acts 28:1-6 NLT
We will continue this in my next article. I will leave you with one thought. EVERYTHING our Lord and King does has a purpose. We humans do things “just for fun”; and sometimes we say things just to say something. We are easily distracted at times. But the Lord God is never distracted. We need more focus and single-mindedness in our lives, if we want to be more like Him. There are times that these verses come to mind and they put my spirit in check and bring me back to focus on His purpose: “So I tell you, every sin and blasphemy can be forgiven—except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which will never be forgiven. Anyone who speaks against the Son of Man can be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, either in this world or in the world to come.
A tree is identified by its fruit. If a tree is good, its fruit will be good. If a tree is bad, its fruit will be bad. You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say. A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.” Matthew 12:31-37 NLT Lord, check my spirit over every idle word!
Remember, your greatest asset is your faith in the King's Word.
