We as Kingdom citizens should always be mindful that because we have been born again with a new spirit, we live on this earth but are no longer of this world. We have become citizens of the Kingdom of the Lord God. You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. 1 John 4:4-5
Are you aware that there are many who claim to be a Christian and a follower of Jesus Christ who are actually enemies of the Lord Jesus? Ambassador Paul wrote of this while addressing the Believers at Philippi: Dear brothers and sisters, pattern your lives after mine, and learn from those who follow our example. For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth. But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for Him to return as our Savior. He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like His own, using the same power with which He will bring everything under His control. Philippians 3:17-21 NLT They are so involved in this word’s activities and pleasures that they can’t divide between what are the Lord God’s principles and their culture and “social justice”.
Those who are Kingdom citizens are those who represent the Kingdom in its essence. They are filled with, and led by, the Holy Spirit. Keep in mind what King Jesus stated while He was here on earth: It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63 He made that statement right after many of the disciples turned away because of what He declared. Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. This is the bread which came down from heaven—not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.” John 6:53-58
The Lord Jesus prayed and spoke with His Father on behalf of His believers, "I have given them Your Word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by Your truth. Your Word is truth. As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth." John 17:14-19
Your physical body lives in this world but your spirit lives in the Kingdom if the Holy Spirit resides within you and you are led by the Spirit of the living God. Those who are Kingdom citizens live and walk by the Spirit. There is no other way for us to live. That is abundant Kingdom living!
Once you have the Holy Spirit residing in your life, you are not only children of God but heirs and joint heirs with the Lord Jesus. Read what ambassador Paul wrote concerning sonship through the Holy Spirit: Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when He adopted you as His own children. Now we call Him, “Abba, Father.” For His Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. And since we are His children, we are His heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share His glory, we must also share His suffering. Romans 8:12-17 NLT
Remember, ever since you were born again by His Spirit, you are no longer subject to this world’s sinful ways. Any time laws of this world contradict the laws of the Lord God’s constitution, your responsibility and priority is to live by the Lord God’s Word. He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. John 12:25
Our faith in Him is our foundation for victory! We know we love God’s children if we love God and obey His commandments. Loving God means keeping His commandments, and His commandments are not burdensome. For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God. 1 John 5:2-5 NLT
