A citizen of God's Kingdom trusts in Him all the time and praises Him every day of their lives. Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:3-4
A citizen of God’s Kingdom realizes he is in the King’s presence under the leadership of our Governor, who is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will be with you forever. He is there whether you are listening or not. I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. John 14:16-17 Keep in mind, while the King was here, he never told the people to attend any religious institutions. The Holy Spirit, who is our Kingdom Governor, lives in those who have embraced and love the King’s Word. “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” John 14:15
Remember that people with a religious mindset think that they must attend a religious service in order to be in right standing with the Lord God. If you go to a church service or meeting, go because you enjoy it and enjoy the fellowship, because you are edified and encouraged, because you leave there with more wisdom and knowledge, but do not go thinking that you have met some requirement and are in right-standing with Him because you attended. That is a deception. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7b
Kingdom citizens have the Word living within them and are always to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. That definitely includes giving. Religious people feel they have to give tithes as in the Old Covenant. “Until John the Baptist, the law of Moses and the messages of the prophets were your guides. But now the Good News of the Kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is eager to get in.” Luke 16:16 NLT King Jesus never told people to pay Him or His disciples tithes while He was here on earth. Always be led by the Holy Spirit in all your giving. In fact the apostles never instructed the people to pay tithes, but to give to the poor so there would be no need among them. All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God’s great blessing was upon them all. There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need. For instance, there was Joseph, the one the apostles nicknamed Barnabas (which means “Son of Encouragement”). He was from the tribe of Levi and came from the island of Cyprus. He sold a field he owned and brought the money to the apostles. Acts 4:32-37 NLT It is the motive of your heart that the Lord God sees.
Money is a good way to see who you actually trust and serve. “No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.” Luke 16:13 NLT We give out of obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit, not any external urging.
Kingdom citizens trust in the Lord God. We can freely obey the Holy Spirit when He says to give because we trust in our Lord and King to meet all of our needs. My wife and I have learned to give every time we are led by the Spirit to give. Usually He will tell both of us and that confirms it. Almost every time it is to an individual who has a need at that moment. The Lord God knows that needs and sends His citizens to meet it.
Now, I have a question for you to think about. Why do you attend a religious church service every Sunday? What is your true motivation in doing so? I am not asking to hear your answer, but to cause you to honestly evaluate and know the truth. Is it based out of religious traditions? Habits? Does it give you a sense of security that you are in right-standing with the Lord God? Compare what you have learned about God’s Kingdom government with any religious traditions you hold.
King Jesus made this statement to a religious leader while He was here on earth: No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.” John 3:13-21 Read that carefully and see He never said they must attend a synagogue (which means “meeting place”).
Believers gathering together was all about encouraging one another and building each other up in God’s Word. It had nothing to do with being entertained, taking up money or hearing a message and not having to open God’s Constitution up for another week. It was all about strengthening and encouraging the saints. Religious traditions have taken us so far from God’s way! Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:19-25
Remember that religion has nothing to do with the Lord God’s government, it is about what religious leaders and their denominations want to accomplish through their membership. Follow their rules for external control and external change. But that doesn’t guarantee internal change. God’s Kingdom is about internal change and growth by obedience to our King’s Word and living in His Kingdom benefits. King Jesus made this statement, which applies to all: Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the Kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The Kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the Kingdom of God is within you.” Luke 17:20-21
I will also say, Kingdom citizens do not get caught up in religious manmade holidays as most Christians do. These holidays took Biblical events and merged them with the world’s holidays and festivals and created something in which both the world and the religious would participate. Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever? And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said: “I will live in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people. Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord. Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you. 2 Corinthians 6:14-17 NLT
Kingdom citizens focus on His Word. Being a citizen of His Kingdom is all about trusting and having faith in the King. King David put it this way: Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Psalm 37:5-6 Religious people put their trust in their pastor and leaders to teach them the Word but Kingdom citizens entrust their teaching to their Kingdom Governor, the Holy Spirit. It is only the Holy Spirit that we may totally trust to give us God’s Truth, without opinions and biases. These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:25-27 Without any boasting, I will say that my writing is a product of the Governor’s leading. I am not that “good” on my own. The same may be said about my wife! I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. John 15:5
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. Revelation 2:29
Remember, your faith in the King’s Word is your greatest asset in the Kingdom.
