Kingdom 104: Your Eternal Foundation Will Sustain You
What, or who, sustains you?
Sustain: To maintain or prolong; to support; to provide for or give support to, especially by supplying your necessities; to keep up your vitality or courage; to uphold or affirm the justice or validity of; to establish the truth or confirm it.
What you truly believe will--or will not--sustain you through eternity. What you truly believe is your foundation for life. It is what you live by. What you believe, is either temporary or eternal. The Lord Jesus, the King, made it quite clear when He made this statement: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. Whether or not you embrace Him and the Kingdom message, His Word will last forever. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. Do you recall what King Jesus said concerning building a solid foundation? A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.”
Obeying the Lord God's Word is building a solid foundation; one that will stand the length of time and eternity. The representative of the Kingdom, John the Baptist, confirms this very statement: The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand. He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” When you stay focused on the Lord God's Constitution, He will bring you through all evil that is around you. I am a living witness to that! Remember, what you truly believe will be reflected in your daily life and behavior. Just follow the Lord Jesus' life. He believed every word that came out of His Father's mouth and focused on the Kingdom message. He never once preached or taught on anything else. It was His Father's command (meaning the Word) that was His foundation. Now, if the Lord God's Word was Jesus' foundation, and it sustained Him, what does that say for us? If you expect to be victorious you must lean on and depend on a solid foundation. That is the only thing that will sustain you in this life and the life to come. Ambassador Paul put it this way: According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
It doesn't pay to put your confidence in material things or the world system. The ambassador Paul made a followup statement: Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. There are two sure ways to destroy a building. One is to tamper with the foundation and the other is to build with inferior materials. In essence, once your spirit is born again, then comes the work of building your foundation...learning to live by the Lord God's Constitution. That comes through reading and studying His Word, principles and laws.
Always remember, your faith in God's Word is your greatest asset.
