Kingdom 104: What Profit Has Righteousness in the Kingdom Pt 2
What does it mean to be righteous in God's Sight? That is a powerful question that all citizens of the Kingdom should be able to answer. The answer lies in obedience to the Word, His commands. When that occurs, here is what will happen to those who are submissive to His Word. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. By the way, the Lord God knows who you are: For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish. The question comes to mind again...What good is righteousness? Being righteous is being in the Lord God's Will and purpose for your life while you are here on earth. It is like being under his umbrella of protection. It gives you true stability, success, health, true wealth that lasts and positions you to overcome all the troubles and situations that this world system throws your way. It gives you Kingdom access.
We are here to assist the King and complete the restoration that our King stated. We have a purpose to complete. Even though the righteousness you receive in Christ isn't given for you alone, but also for the purpose of the ministry of reconciliation. Righteousness does bring with it significant personal benefits. And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life. By the way, you may even have to turn away from some family members to maintain your righteous standing in the Kingdom. So Jesus answered and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s, who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.” So you should prepare your mind to accept that reality.
What I have learned during my time on this planet is that people would rather be liked by their family and friends than to be righteous before the King. Righteousness is a mindset, based on the infallible, unchanging Word of God. What people fail to realize is that people are fickle. They will claim to love you one moment and with that same tongue curse you the next. Even Jesus was not exempt from this fickle behavior. One week they sang His praises, the next week they crucified Him. Righteousness, based upon embracing the Word of God, becomes a life of right behavior. It also becomes a standard, raised for all those you come in contact with, to see.
Now, I want you to take notice: Righteousness attracts the Lord God because He is righteous. He looks favorably on all those who seek to obey His Word and to live righteously in faith and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Just as subjects in earthly kingdoms long for the favor of their king, so you should seek the favor of the King of Heaven. That should be our desire. I know it is my desire to please Him. You should look to Him to extend His scepter over you. Read here what the Lord God stated in His Constitution: Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions. A scepter is the symbol of authority. Anyone under the scepter of the king was under his protection and care. Your obedience to His Word, puts you under His promises and protection.
Are you saying that obedience to His Word and righteousness are too hard for you? No! That is why He sent the Comforter--our Governor--the Holy Spirit. “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” We can do ALL things through Christ Jesus. Never forget that! Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God...Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
Remember, your faith in His Word (the Lord Jesus the Christ) is your greatest asset.
