Kingdom 104: A Focused Representative of the Kingdom
A focused man in the Kingdom is unstoppable in his faith...his faith in God's Word. The Lord Jesus was focused on His mission and His assignment. He didn't have to come to this world to restore the Kingdom back to planet earth, but He did. You must keep this in mind: from the time you embrace the Kingdom message, the evil one will do all that he can to cause you to lose focus. This is what happened to the Lord Jesus:
Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry.
And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”
But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’”
Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.”
And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”
Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here. For it is written:
‘He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’”
And Jesus answered and said to him, “It has been said, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ ”
Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.
The Lord Jesus knew His purpose for being here on earth. It was to restore the Kingdom government back to mankind. John the baptist knew this. He also knew his part in the Kingdom. It was to introduce the King of the Kingdom government. The prophet Isaiah spoke of the King thousands of years before the King came to earth. For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. You may have noticed, Isaiah spoke of a government and kingdom. There was nothing mentioned of a religion called Christianity. Isaiah stayed focused on his message concerning the Kingdom government.
I enjoy watching basketball and football (American football). My all-time favorite basketball player is Michael Jordan, "MJ" to some. While he played basketball, he never became political. He stayed focused on his sport and the game. By doing so, he won six championship titles with the Chicago Bulls. During his time with the Bulls, he became the most decorated NBA player of all time. He was a gentleman on the court and off the court. He was a man of focus. I could go on, but I think I have made my point. In essence, MJ stayed focused on his game, and he became the greatest and most effective because of that focus. He became a champion because of his focus.
The Lord Jesus came to earth with this message: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Now if the Kingdom of God is our priority, then why don't we stay focused on the Kingdom message? In order for us to do that, we must stay in His Word each and every day. We must learn how to be obedient to His Word and avoid distractions. The ambassador Paul was so focused that after the completion of his purpose, he said this: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
When you are totally focused on the Lord God's assignment in your life, there will be outside attacks on you mentally. When you are focused on the Lord God's Will and purpose for your life while you are here on earth, submitted to the Holy Spirit's leading and guidance; there is nothing on this earth that can stop you. Keep in mind, all that the Lord Jesus did was to bring mankind back to the Father. None of it was for His own benefit. Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. Notice He asked His disciples a question first. That was a very important question. Even until this day.
Whatever your purpose is in the world, it should always lead people to the Lord Jesus. Why? Because the Kingdom message is about eternity; not the here and now.
Always remember, your greatest asset is your faith in the Lord Jesus the Christ.
