Kingdom 103: Who or What is Your god?
That is a question everyone should ask themselves. As you read and study the Gospel of the Kingdom, it will totally change your viewpoint of the world and its system. God wants to be the only God to His people. It was a promise made to Abram by God. Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
The Lord God repeated His promise to him after Abraham showed his obedience in sacrificing his son. Then the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, and said: “By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son—blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”
Whatever or whoever takes up the majority of your time, money or attention is your god. You should start making some serious evaluations of things and people in your life. Are those things taking up most of your time and attention manmade, or are they eternal? Do they give you a sense of eternal security, or do they satisfy a temporal desire? Are the people in your life Kingdom minded or religious minded....or carnal minded? Are those whom you esteem above others material minded or do they have the mind of Christ? These are just a few of the questions you should ask yourself before this day ends and another begins.
The God that I speak of is the King of a Kingdom that has no end. It is a Kingdom that is everlasting. The Lord God showed King Nebuchadnezzar this Kingdom years before the Son of God arrived on earth. "...And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. Inasmuch as you saw that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold—the great God has made known to the king what will come to pass after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation is sure.” Those who are true Kingdom citizens are filled with His Spirit. Dr. Luke spoke of this Kingdom when describing the birth of Jesus: And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.
Remember, the Old Testament shows us the character of God, and that hasn't changed for one minute. His character is unchanging and eternal. He sent His Son to give us all a chance to come to Him through Jesus His Son. My question to you now is, what image do you worship? Sports? Religion? Money? Power? Hollywood? Or even something you have only created in your mind's imagination? The list of what man worships is endless, but should contain only one name. “You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me"
Remember this statement Jesus made: "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." Not a statue created by man in an image they think Jesus looked like while here on earth, but who He truly is.
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Faith and the Holy Spirit (the Governor) goes hand in hand. Your faith in the Lord God's Word is your greatest asset.
