Kingdom 103: Trusting in Mankind While Believing in God's Word?
To trust in a person is to have a firm belief or confidence in the honesty, integrity, and reliability of that person; which entails faith and reliance. If you claim to believe in the God of creation, and yet keep disobeying His Constitution, do you really believe and trust in Him? You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!
To trust in mankind, who is a created being--not a creator, is like trusting in a house full of light bulbs without the power to light them up. Mankind did not create himself. When you truly believe and trust in the Lord Jesus, you won't allow this world situation to bother you on any level. Living in the Kingdom is being filled with His Spirit (the Governor). In essence, this is what you do: Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Now, that is when you allow yourself to trust in King Jesus. Remember, God gave His Son all authority. And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
If you have the Kingdom concept and have been filled with the Holy Spirit, you will receive a boldness that only a kingdom citizen can have. The ambassador Stephen received that boldness: “You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you. Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who foretold the coming of the Just One, of whom you now have become the betrayers and murderers, who have received the law by the direction of angels and have not kept it.” That is one bold ambassador for the Kingdom! His trust wasn't in mankind. His faith in the Lord Jesus is what spearheaded his courage. When they heard these things they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth. But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!” Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord; and they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul.
At one point, Saul trusted in mankind, but when the Lord Jesus got his attention and changed his name and filled him with the Holy Spirit, the ambassador Paul became a bold representative of the Kingdom. Immediately he preached the Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God. Then all who heard were amazed, and said, “Is this not he who destroyed those who called on this name in Jerusalem, and has come here for that purpose, so that he might bring them bound to the chief priests?”
But Saul increased all the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt in Damascus, proving that this Jesus is the Christ. Now after many days were past, the Jews plotted to kill him. Saul changed after receiving the Holy Spirit. His name was changed and Jesus gave him his assignment. But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel. For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake.” Saul spoke boldly concerning the King and the Kingdom. Jesus changed his direction, his priorities. He still had the same passion, but now it was for the Kingdom. Ambassador Barnabas had to reassure the disciples concerning Saul's transformation because they new the old Saul with very different priorities. And when Saul had come to Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, and did not believe that he was a disciple. But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. And he declared to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus. So he was with them at Jerusalem, coming in and going out. And he spoke boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus and disputed against the Hellenists, but they attempted to kill him. When the brethren found out, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him out to Tarsus. Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied.
Remember, you only can trust in one or the other. Fire and water can't occupy the same space at the same time. Your greatest asset is your faith in God's Word, not in mankind.
