Kingdom 103: The Unchanging Person and the Unshakable Kingdom
Remember, the Lord Jesus proclaimed that the Gospel of the Kingdom of God had come to earth once again. That was His Gospel from His Father. Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. It wasn't news concerning a new religion or a denomination. It was about a heavenly government, a culture. Keep in mind, we weren't called to make people feel good with a message that creates a warm and fuzzy feeling. The Lord Jesus' message was the good news that the Lord God's Kingdom had come on planet earth again; and anyone who would come and embrace it would be reunited in spirit, fellowship with Him and be restored to their full position. What full position? The rights as children of the Lord God and citizens of His Kingdom government.
The good news of the Kingdom is that we can regain what Adam lost. We can once again assume the dominion authority over our lives--the authority that the Lord God intended for us from the beginning.
Remember, the Lord Jesus' message never changed. And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people. He preached the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, which is His government, not a religion. Therefore,as citizens of the Kingdom and followers of Christ, the Gospel of the Kingdom of God is the only true gospel. When are we going to get a clue? In other words, for citizens of the government of the Lord, there is no good news other than the awesome and powerful message of the Kingdom of God. This message is the only legitimate message we have to communicate to this world. If that was the Lord Jesus' only message, why do we stray and not follow His example?
One of our biggest problems in the organized church is that we have gotten caught up in preaching something the Lord Jesus never told us to preach. He told us to preach the good news of the Kingdom, yet we have exclusively focused our preaching on Jesus as the door. We preach His death on the cross for our sins and His resurrection as the guarantee of our eternal life. Believe me when I say, all of this is true, and it is good news, but it isn't the Gospel that Jesus the Christ told us to preach. He told us to preach the Kingdom. Hold this close to your heart...the Lord Jesus is the One who came to proclaim the Kingdom and the One who, through His death, provided us entrance to the Kingdom; but for some reason we have become so fixated on preaching about the door that we have never gotten around to speaking about life beyond the door!
