Kingdom 103: Standing on His Promises
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. Remember, the Lord Jesus' Word is sovereign. Why? Because they came from His Father God. Allow me to explain the word sovereign: 1) when one's word is sovereign, it is above or superior to all others; chief; greatest; supreme 2) their word is supreme in power, rank and authority. Their words hold position of full authority and power. It is the reigning authority and independent of all others.
We should be so encouraged that the Lord God's Word is sovereign! He cannot go back on His Word. He promised us eternal life if we only believe in Him and His Word. Those who keep His Word are blessed. And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, “Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!” But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!” You can't say that you love the Lord Jesus and not keep His laws, commandments and principles. He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” Those are Jesus' very words. The ambassador John made this statement: Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him....And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
I am truly encouraged when I take the time to read the promises He gave me! If you notice, I take it personally because He is personal! I know that He will never go back on His Word. How do I know this? Through my faith in Him, which is strengthened by all His Word that is etched on my heart and mind. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water... Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. Those of us who truly believe in the Lord Jesus the Christ overcome the world. We are IN it, but not OF it. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
Jesus spoke it plainly: Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. Keep in mine, there is so much more. I am just mentioning eternal life. What about those of us who endured trials and challenges? My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
Stand on the promises of the Lord God and always be like the church in Philadelphia. “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, ‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”: “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you. Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”’
Do you have a promise from God's Word that ministers to you in a personal way? Stand on that promise. And always remember, your greatest asset is your faith in the Lord Jesus the Christ.
