Kingdom 103: Singleness, Divorce and the Results Pt 1
Though an unpopular truth, I must say, if you have had a sexual relationship without first being married to that person, you have put yourself in a world of hurt. Sin ultimately brings pain, and fornication--sex outside of marriage--is a sin according to God's Constitution. Yes, sin brings with it pain and devastation. I would also like to state that there is a myth--an erroneous concept--of singleness. In fact, people don't have a singleness problem, they have a different problem called "being single", or as some would say, "being alone".
It is also important to know that the Lord God hates divorce--not divorced people, but the act of divorce and the subsequent fallout. “For the Lord God of Israel says that He hates divorce, for it covers one’s garment with violence,” says the Lord of hosts. “Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously.”
The Lord Jesus faced challenges concerning the Constitution from religious leaders with a religious mindset; but He reminded them of His Father's original plan: The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?”
And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”
They said to Him, “Why then did Moses command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?”
He said to them, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. Religious minded people can't accept this even in this present day. They are always looking for loopholes to have their way. I was one of those people until I embraced the Kingdom concept and became obedient to His Word.
Now, having stated what the Father God hates, let us continue on with the Kingdom view of 'singleness'. First of all, let us consider the concept of that ever-abiding concern which seems to control and influence so many lives: singleness. What is singleness? What does it mean to be single? The dictionary definition says, to be separate, unique and whole. Another question I have for you: Would you like to stop being whole or a unique person? By the way, you were created unique. Would you want to lose your identity? Definitely not! Then, what is the problem with singleness? There isn't one! The problem is with our definition, which has been given to us by a cultural and socio-economic world system under the rulership of Lucifer--better known as Satan. He is the god of this world order. I would like to add, for those who fail to embrace the Kingdom message, read what ambassador Paul said to those believers at Corinth: But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. The world's definition of marriage and divorce, which the church has embraced as their own, has opened the doors to hurt, rejection and even self-hatred. Sin's hidden companion is always pain.
