Kingdom 103: Return Of the Governor
What do I mean by the Governor? The Holy Spirit. In order for us to become legitimate citizens of the Kingdom, we must be filled with the Holy Spirit; which is the Lord God's Spirit residing in our mortal bodies. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance... And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. The Lord Jesus gave the Holy Spirit to His disciples to heal the sick, cast out demons and raise the dead. That wasn't their personal power; it was in the name of Jesus with His authority. These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying: “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. Provide neither gold nor silver nor copper in your money belts, nor bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor staffs; for a worker is worthy of his food."
In this earthly government, if a government official is given a car or a computer to carry out their responsibility they aren't his personal property to use in whatever way he or she chooses. They are to be used only to assist and fulfill their official responsibilities. The automobile and computer doesn't belong to them; they have to return them if the government requests them or they leave their employment. Their use of such things is a privilege, not a right. Remember, in the Kingdom we have access, not ownership.
Now, the same thing is true concerning spiritual gifts given by our heavenly government. There are some citizens who believe that the power they have been given--authorized to use by the Governor (Holy Spirit)-- actually comes from their own abilities. Remember, we still have the freedom of choice, even with the Holy Spirit in our mortal bodies. The Holy Spirit (Governor) does not make us do anything. You still have the power of choice. The ambassador Paul said it this way in his letter to the citizens in Ephesus:
Therefore, putting away lying, “Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,” for we are members of one another. “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil. Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need. Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. All of these infractions are learned behavior. This is why I stress to stay in the Word. Stay focused in the Lord God's Constitution. Paul went on to say: And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. That is one of the reasons the ambassador Paul stated to his young brother Timothy: Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness.
Using our gifts and talents for our personal ambition leads to problems. This is dangerous for both the person abusing the power and the one he is supposed to be serving. People who do this fail to fulfill their purpose. The ones who are meant to benefit from their service go without the help they could have received. This is why I stay focused on teaching and preaching the Kingdom!
We need to hear and learn concerning the Kingdom. We need to be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit--we sometimes call this "hearing God's Voice". Remember that the news of the day and world events is information. The world system will deliver that information to us, but the Kingdom of God is eternal information. That is our focus.
