Kingdom 103: If You Can Believe in Him
I would like to ask you this question...Do you believe? Believe it or not, that is a very loaded question. Let us examine this word "Believe". 1. To believe is to take as true or real.
2. To believe is to have confidence in a statement or promise of another person.
3. To believe is to suppose or think
4. To believe is to have trust or confidence, as being true, real, good, etc.
There was a situation that arose with the Lord's disciples, concerning a man's son who had epilepsy. Then one of the crowd answered and said, “Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a mute spirit. And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast it out, but they could not.”
He answered him and said, “O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me.” Then they brought him to Him. And when he saw Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth. So He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it: “Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!”
Now read again what the Lord said to those who were present around Him: “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” In this present age, believing has become a process, one that has more to do with clearing one's mind of those things that promote unbelief. Keep in mind, before Adam became disobedient, he only had one voice and command to listen to and obey. So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so. Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day...The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil... Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” The Lord God stated "God saw all that He had made and it was very good".
Before Adam ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, he had only one source of knowledge and that came from his Source and Creator, God. Believing and obeying was the only thing Adam knew. It was when he became disobedient and ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil that all other information began to cloud his thoughts and mind. The first information Adam discovered was shame. And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?”
Unless you embrace God's Word for what it is--Truth--you will be filled with doubt and unbelief. Your belief and faith must be rooted and grounded in His Word. The question comes to mind...Why would you doubt? Don't you know that He promised us eternal life? The Lord Jesus made this statement while He was here on earth: He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”..."And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”
Now, being we live in a world of sin (disobedience), believing is a process and in many cases, it is a challenge. That is why the Lord Jesus emphasized: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Your faith in believing in the King is your foundation for accomplishing your purpose in the Kingdom. Remember, the Lord god's Word is eternal. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying; who can understand it?” ...Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. Now notice what Peter answered when Jesus asked this question: From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?” But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
This is a word of encouragement for those of you who have embraced the Kingdom message. Being that the Lord God knows your very thoughts, one can only come to the Lord Jesus if the Father God has permitted it. And He said, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.” Many don't understand God's Word because their heart isn't right (meaning the right motives). Keep in mind, your faith in the Word of God is your foundation to eternal life.
