Kingdom 103: Fatherlessness, the Source of Disobedience and Sin
If someone were to ask you what the source of sin was, you could honestly say it was disobedience to God's Word. Sin separates us from God. At the root of sin in this world is the absence of real fathers, because that is God's order set up when He created the world. The real sin problem is those men who fail to shoulder their responsibility. The Lord God created mankind to embrace His commands and laws. Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die." And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”...And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. He even told Adam what would happen if he didn't obey His command: "for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die". Regardless of what Eve did or said, it was Adam's responsibility to take charge and lead because the Lord God gave the command to him even before Eve was created.
In today's society, males are acting less masculine, more passive and giving their God-given authority in the family over to women. In this society where males are becoming more feminine, we as men and Godly fathers must be identifiable and in line with God's Word. Masculine men are not brutal bullies. That is not God's plan. They are to be protective leaders. They must make the hard decisions and be strong in doing what is right according to God's Word. Remember, God created man in His own image and nothing less. Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Notice, before God gave man a companion, He gave him a responsibility. That responsibility was to cultivate and to lead. (Keep in mind, this command was before Adam became disobedient to God's command). Adam was a citizen of the Kingdom. He was the leader and of the colony called earth. But his disobedience--sin--dethroned him.
One of the root meanings of the word sin in the New Testament is hamartia in Greek, which means separation in the English language. Adam separated himself through failing to obey his Father God's instructions. We separate ourselves as well when we fail to apply God's Constitution to every facet of our lives. It is the same as a branch trying to grow fruit without the tree. Jesus gave a great illustration. “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples." Real fathers lead by example. He is an example that his children can live by and be productive in this present age. He raises a standard. Keep in mind, that God is a God of order. His standards far exceed human standards. If we are the branches, we must always stay connected to the vine. In essence, we must always live by our heavenly King's Word. His Word develops a standard that we must live by. By that standard, we are demonstrating the Kingdom culture.
Keep this information always in your thoughts. The Kingdom has nothing to do with Christianity or religion, but everything to do with God's government. When you disobey your Heavenly Father, you open the door to rebellion, disobedience and sin. And you pass that on to your children, whether you mean to or not. You must always stay in good standing with your Heavenly Father through obeying His Word. It's just that simple!
